Posted by Hylian1 on www.rare-elite.com:

It's been a long time since anything brand new regarding everyones favorite pirate, Captain Blackeye, has been brought about. But now, thanks to text in Viva Pinata, something about the infamous pirate has been brought to our attention! Full text in the game:

Captain Blackeye statue:
"This statue was built to remember a dream, so that we should never forget...This accessory is named after a legendary sea-sick pirate last seen moaning about a bear and bird stealing his glory. Not many people know he captained a ship called 'The Mud Plugger'."

The Mud Plugger? Stop N Swop clue? Just info on the pirate? Looks like some research needs to be done on just what a Mud Plugger is...

The Mud Plugger is just another ship he had.Not SnS related I'd say.

VP didn't tell us BlackEye captained Rusy Bucket. Rusty Bucket isn't even the real name. Isnt it like, S.S. Grunty? On the side of the ship, doesn't it say something like that.

BanjoPL

No...the ship in BK was named "Rusty Bucket"
"The Mud Plugger" is refrence in VP...
Well...RBB in BK is level with mud...no?

Fox McBanjo

RRB has no mud at all.Unless you count the soup in the kitchen.Mud pie, anyone?
And you forgot some clues:

At the end of B-K mumbo tells you about them
? marks on Gobi's Vally's walls.
Challenge 16

There are probably more but I can't think of them.Sorry

BanjoPL

I posted clues that releates only to Captain Blackeye's mystery...
There is possiblity that "The Mud Plugger" will be ship that he wil have in BK3 but Banjo Team said in VP that he captained this ship...so this is past tense...
The Mud Plugger=Rusty Bucket ???

If it wren't for the fact that it's been stated and proven time and time again that Capt. Blackeyes is in NO WAY related to the Rusty Bucket and that Gruntilda is the owner/proprietor of the vessel, Blackeye theories might still make sense.

Just because he didn't appear to have a ship in the game doesn't mean he's the owner of the first one taht comes to mind.

There is clue for Blackeye/RBB connection in BK:sandcastle code for red egg:THIS SECRET YOULL BE GRABBIN IN THE CAPTAIN S CABIN.
Another is TTC map in RBB with X where pink egg is.In BT in Blackeye's room we can found pink egg picture...

ANYONE can be a captain of any ship. Just because Blackeye is the only character with "Captain" in his title does NOT mean he is the captain of the first ship that comes to mind. Which I already tried to make clear.

Also, saying something/someone is directly linked to something else because there are some pictures in the same room as the character, and the pictures are of an item that is in a location marked on a map in a level that happens to contain the item in question is like saying something is true because your mom's sister's cousin's dog's wife's aunt's daughter's brother's gerbil said they did it but refuses to provide proof.

BanjoPL

Possible you have right...
This is intresting that this time Banjo Team said in VP that BEAR AND BIRD stole Blackeye's glory.
In BT Blackeye said that only BEAR stole his glory...
I heard that there is Captain Blackeye statue in VP...
Finally we see in VP refrences to BK/BT mysteries!

BTW:In RBB there is water with mud...

Hylian told me about this as soon as he found it. It's just adding more substance. It's NOT however a clue to SnS. It IS however, a clue to BK3. Expect to see Blackeye again in BK3. Mabe even with his old ship back.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing one of those in Rusty Bucket Bay one time.

The Mud Plugger thing is interesting, though. But are we sure Rareware isn't poking fun at us? I'm sure they knew that when they said that, that we'd be discussing all about this Mud Plugger thing. For all we know, it could be something coming up in BK3. Which gives me hope of some massive pirate/ocean level. But I'll be quiet since I'm starting to ramble. o-O

That's oil in the water, not mud.

See, this is why I'd hate to work on any game by the Banjo team - if I made a joke about anything related to a controversial character, I'd have people jumping on it faster than a free Microsoft release. (That explains the popularity of the "Express" versions of their Visual Studio software.)

You beat me too it, but I do want to add something. Rusty Bucket is NOT the name of the ship. It's the name of the sea port that the H.M.S. Gruntilda is in. And, about P_L and BanjoPL were arguing, I agree with both of you. Just because Blackeye is a captain, and we don't know what his ship is, we automaticly assume that it's the H.M.S. Gruntilda. Which means that Grunty is who the ship is dedicated to, (Her Majesty's Ship), and I think that something else said she actually owned it, that by no means means that Blackeye cannot be it's captain. Although, I highly doubt they would try to call one boat two names. And please, remember I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about most of the time and 68.3% of what I say should be completely ignored. Just like 74% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Just to start off, 'Rusty Bucket' is the name of the ship in RBB. I remember swimming around in the oily water to try out the 'infinite air' cheat and reading the name on the side of the ship, though of course I could be wrong.

Anyway, I've been thinking that maybe it's a mistake to associate Captain Blackeye with SNS at all. After all, Rare said that the "evil pirate dude had a mission and a purpose all his own," but they didn't say it was related to SNS. Perhaps Blackeye is a pivotal character in the world of BK and they were simply 'alluding to' in the first two installments to build up speculation about him. As for the 'Mud Plugger', perhaps yo don't remember, but the sunken ship beneath JRL did not have a name. I assumed it was Captain Blubber's ship, but in the Tower of Tragedy, Gruntilda makes it clear that it was not his. Maybe the JRL ship is the 'Mud Plugger'. Just some ideas...

Captain Blubber's Ship was the "Salty Hippo" that ran aground on the beach of TTC in the first game, I don't think it appears anywhere in BT at all (how would it anyway?)

Hmm...has anyone considered that this might be one of Rare's famous innuendos?

I'm inclined to agree, though only because i've been posting on IGN far far too long.

No, because Blackeye is in NO WAY related to the Rusty Bucket. Being called "Captain" =/= Automatically being the captain of the only ship known in the area.

Jeez ... what's it gonna take for people to belive that just because we never SEE Blackeye's actual ship, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist and doesn't mean that he's the captain of the only ship that happens to be available?!

The warp pad in Atlantis just calls it "The Sunken Ship".

Are there any more ships in JRL?

My memory might be a bit funky, but isn't there a sunken ship in the locker area that leads to Lord Woo Fak Fak, and there's also a ship in Atlantis? I may be wrong.

First off, I'd like to state that I DO NOT believe that this is a real clue and is simply another joke from Rare. Keeping that in mind...

No, because Blackeye is in NO WAY related to the Rusty Bucket. Being called "Captain" =/= Automatically being the captain of the only ship known in the area.

The symbol on his hat appears on the walls in one of the rooms. It's in the one with the picture of the squirrel.

"The Mud Plugger" would be Blackeye's ship in BK3 but Banjo Team said that Blackeye CAPTAINED this ship so this must be in past.

Just because it was in past tense doesn't mean it couldn't refer to a future game. B3 could have happened before VP.

mud plugger? interesting. now maybe people will accept the rusty bucket is grunty's ship, not blackeye's.
that said, i would like to see blackeye return and have the mud plugger atleast mentioned, if not seen. hey, who knows, maybe there will be a mini game where you can choose to pilot the rusty bucket, repaired salty hippo, and the mud plugger.

and about the mud plugger being the sunken ship......that actually is a pretty good idea.

I just looked up slang definitions of "plugger", and ... I don't think I should post the link on here if we want this place to stay a 'family-friendly' discussion ...
Add in the number of things "mud" could imply, and that there's one extreme innuendo ...
Still, they could name a ship that and hope no one but adults get it, and they'd probably get away with it. Rare's good at innuendos that only the people who are supposed to understand them get - I barely got Jolly's menu until I was told it was an innuendo! :p

I wonder if this is Rare hinting at Blackeye having a role in Banjo-Threeie? Maybe he'll even be the villain in it, or at least have a significant role in its plot, possibly at the helm of the Mud Plugger once again? You know, considering Blackeye merited his own statue in VP, and (as far as I know) even characters as significant to the Banjo-Kazooie series as Grunty didn't. Very interesting, anyway. Any chance of a screenshot of him in hi-definition splendour? :p

THis topic leads me to several conclutions

1. The mud plugger may be a ship that will be in B3 (It's captain may be blackeye or maybe the ships Beta name?)
2. I've always said that B-K was known as DREAM during production, maybe Blackeye was meant to be the protagonist of the such game he was then replaced by Banjo and Kazooie as you can see in crypt in his words, Banjo took away his dream of being protagonist so Banjo stole him the glory of being a video game superstar (since it was a big hit)

If this is actually related then I would never believe that the secret would be revealed almost a decade later. Especially now that a lot of people have given up on Stop N' Swop. If it did exist, the method should have been solved in the 6th generation.
