What's up with the no track music when doing 3 players in Diddy Kong Racing? That like makes the racing pointless... When I have 3 or 4 friends we always go in pairs of 2 when racing... I just can't bear to race without any music... Why in the heck would they make it that way?

I know...the same goes for Mario Kart.

But its not only the music...I couldn't ever figure out why they had to strip all the other racers when there's three. You can't have 3 humans and 5 COMs? What's up with that?

Yeah, what's up with that? I mean, I can handle MK64 without any music, but I just can not get over the musicless enviroment in DKR.... Makes me sad... :( That'd be like playing Ordinance Storage shootout with 3 people and not having the "Dun, duhduh, dun dun, do do do do dooo, da!" GGM backround music...

It (and Mario kart) are relatively early N64 games remember so I'm sure it was due to hardware constraints (plus getting to grips with a new system) moreso than anything else. Obviously these issues were resolved later on in the consoles lifespan because F-Zero X allows for 4 players and retains it's rockin' soundtrack (and a locked 60fps framefrate) though, unlike MarioKart and Diddy Kong Racing, the environments, tracks and racers have pretty much no detail at all..clearly graphics were sacrificed to maintain speed (and to allow for music I guess).

Having three player controlled characters and five AI drivers would cripple the N64, it just wouldn't be able to do it well (heck, just with two players and 6 computers the framerate is noticably much worse than single-player mode).

Also, 3000th post, love me.

Well, that kind of sucks... just when I thought DKR was the best racing game of all time... Aww, who am I kidding, it still is! :D
