View Full Version : Wii Shortages

I know that other people and myself have been trying constantly to obtain Nintendo's latest console, but we can't because of shortages. These shortages make little since because Nintendo has at least (probably a lot more than) 1 million stashed away in their factory. Ebay is overpriced, and don't even get me started with Amazon. Please post your stories and opinions about the shortages in this thread. If you have any news or rumors about restocking anywhere, please post those here as well.

So Nintendo are keeping back Wiis from the ravenous public who will snap them up in a second...just to be mean? XD

1 million really isn't a whole lot.
Just to put that into perspective, there are over 30,000,000 people in California alone. Nintendo sold 400,000 Wiis in North America on the first day.
They're going to have a hell of a time keeping up with demand.

Yes it's the same problem over here from what I heard of I didn't even try to get myself a Wii still wondering if I should get an X-Box 360 or Wii hard choice...
But im still waiting for the price drop.

Keeping those Wiis stashed up to watch the millions of Wii-obsessing fans suffer in agony from the lack of a good next-gen console... My, my, how selfish. o-O
Err, all silliness put aside... Yes, I know a friend of mine on another forum who pre-ordered one of the Wiis, and like Ight, they still don't have their Wii yet. Eh, but it's not like I'll be getting a Wii anytime soon, anyway... In the financial slump we're in, we can't even afford to replace my N64 if it ever gets screwed up. So... Gee, we couldn't afford a $250 Wii if we can't afford to buy a REALLY cheap N64 from eBay... Now could we? :P

I just want a nunchuck but after all this time I've concluded they simply don't exist, it's all an evil plan from nintendo to avoid people from playing other games than wiisports or wiiplay.
The one that comes with the console you say?..probably a product of your mind. Pure ilusion. T___T
Edit: 400th post. Took a lot to get! XD

I still don't have one, and for a bad reason. My mom listens to every word one of her "friends" says. She had two chances that she undoubtedly would have gotten one, but there goes he friend telling her to leave to another store, or line up to a different entrance, which was on the other side of the mall away. I'm trying to hold my anguish, but I might yell at her children the next time I see them. I find it hard to bottle these things up.
Although I do have Twilight Princess already, but no console, damn you cruel fate, damn you!

RareBK, do you think you have it bad by having one game and no Wii? I have a Wii-mote, nunchuck, classic controller, component cables, Zelda Twilight Princess, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Red Steel, and Excite Truck. Let's see, what's missing?

I think these so-called "shortages" are related to Nintendo wanting to keep the hype as high as they can, before price/interest drops...simply a marketing ploy. As long as we keep trying to get a Wii really hard, we can't turn back on the idea of buying one, once we're so dedicated to getting it...:p

Jeez, buying all that stuff and you don't even have the system yet... no wonder you're going insane  Not to mention that's a lot of stuff that cost money that is, for the moment, rendered useless.
Tsk. Consumerism :p

Probably, if you're counting Wii Sports as a game.

Nah, Wii Sports is just a thing that works for the only purpose to test if your Sensor Bar and your Wiimote works, otherwise, its no use.
I´m not buying my Wii until my birthay, which will be on January 26th. There are very few Wiis on my local stores, and those are way too expensive...

Klungo, do you happen to have a Gamecube? If so, you got jipped on the classic controller, a Gamecube controller works perfectly fine says a guy who works at Toys-R-Us.

Are you kidding? Wii sports is great! I even managed to get my grandparents playing it over Christmas. Maybe you're confusing Wii sports with Wii Play.

In my view both of them are fun just the first time you play, maybe the second or third for an hour or two if you play with some friends, but seriously it isn't something to actually play with.
(play=get addicted, put hours of effort and fun on it, etc.)
It's like all the eye toy games, they aren't games for me. ><

Wii sports isn't something I'd play for hours on end, but it's something I'll keep going back to.

I'm pretty sure that my friends and I have logged 50+ hours from Wii Sports alone. :p I've gone Pro in every sport, with a top bowling score of 279. Oh so close...

Are you kidding? Wii Sports is awesome, it's more of a game than most games released today (lol Spongebob games)

I already knew that. I only bought it because of how awkward it would be to play DKC and SMW on the SNES with such a huge distance between the y and b buttons. Plus, what would you use as the select button?

We Had 2 Preordered And My Dad Sent In An... Angry E-Mail To HMV And They Came In About 2 Weeks
