Q14: I noticed that in the upper corridor there was a blocked off room that has a few Rare books laying on the ground in a question mark. Is this just a joke or is it actually there for a reason!?! (Tim aka MrPants the Great)
A: The official answer is that it's there purely for a joke and to invite the usual flurry of frustrated emails. But we can't admit that as it will only annoy people, so we'll say that it's a super special secret that will only be revealed when you eject the disc and within five seconds replace it with another, as-yet-unreleased Rare title, while looking at the question mark in, er, question
Man that pisses me off if thats not a joke, because they never finished swop and stop.

Rarmander! Fancy seeing you here.
Anyway, I can tell they're joking, because of the simple fact that the Xbox resets when you open the disc tray. The only way they could any sort of swapping feature to work, short of temporarily writing a special file to the Xbox's harddrive or a memory card, would be to try to write some routine to try and freeze related data in RAM until the new game was loaded. Somehow, I doubt they'd go through that kind of trouble, especially since they were under pressure to get GBTG out on time. (Explaining why the music test didn't make it into the game. :()

what the hell dide you mean by real people out there in the US like me, is this more of that annoying patriotism crap, because it sounds very egotistical, and if indeed all it was was 'swopping' in the magazines, then thats a little low key or sumptin isnt it, it sounds very unbeleiveable to me...

The only magazine I can really remember which had it in was Tips and Tricks, I remembered that stupid article because I used to get in fights about it.

Wait it was in Tips And Tricks?? Are you sure? Which issue? Because it did not make it to its whole code listing.

I dont remember what issue, I should have bought it. It wasnt the get the eggs codes, it was telling about how you can hot swop the cartridges.

*blinks* Wow, I agree with Icy: I didn't expect to see you here. It seems that members of the Sonic (in particular SWS2B) community are joining this one as well (or in me and Icy's case, joining the Sonic community. Well, mainly him, as i rarely even post over at SWS2B anymore.). Happy belated welcome.
As for the actual topic at hand, although I do remember that there were some articles reguarding actual hot swapping, I could have sworn that they were just speculation on the parts of the magazines. Still, that would be cool to track down the Tips and Tricks issue that you mentioned.

"rarely"? Pah. The last time you posted there was...
May 19th. Ok, you have a point.
Anyway, the more I think about it, the more I realize that I don't recall seeing anything about SNS in Tips & Tricks. I can count on one hand the number of issues I've missed in the last 7 years, and I don't recall any of them saying anything about SNS. The only mag I read that said anything about SNS was Nintendo Power, and it was just them saying that they'd be looking for new developments, or some crap like that.

I've only seen it in Nintendo Power, they credited the "two people who sent it in", N64 Mag with our initial release and article, and NOM in britain (never saw that one with own eyes).
Some sort of conspiracy, I've not seen it in any other mags, and you'd think it'd be big...

NOM published those egg codes and apparantly were going to have an editorial on the whole deal in the *next* issue........ Which I never bought.

Even I remember seeing an article on Stop N Swop in Tips & Tricks. It was in one of the issues back in 2000 I believe. And yes, it was dealing specifically on what hot swapping cartridges is and gave tips on how to do it between the 2 games. Unfortunately, I don't have the magazine either. But I can assure you it does exist!

well can't someone track down a back copy or a website or editors e-mail address and just ask?

I doubt it'll exist, because aside from monthly columns, Tips & Tricks doesn't do "articles." But prove me wrong. Please.

PFFT. It's obviously Sock and Pop. I thought everyone knew that. ;)
Anyways, I should probably contribute something useful to this thread, but most everything has been stated already. I am a bit skeptical reguarding an article about hot-swaping the carts, unless it related to like a beta version or a planned idea. Even then, I bet it was just speculation on their parts....
