A lot of people are talking about the uselessness of the extra screen for the DS. If I buy a DS, though, I'm not just going to be buying it for the extra screen and for games that will utilize this well. And I really don't give a crap about the stylus that Nintendo decided to incorporate, to me it seems like it'll be really sloppy to use in any fast paced game. In my opinion, I'll consider this screen just as a good way to see your items or stats in a game without pausing the game, nothing more than that really. I don't expect much from it, I just think of it as a convenience. Besides, can you imagine a game where you had to manage two screens at once? That would be insanity! In fact, I'm glad that from atleast these first games that are coming out, you don't need to use two screens. You guys should probably follow the same philosophy. Whoever out there might be shooting down the DS for not using its screen for actuall gameplay, don't.

The Wi-Fi function has me most interested, I think 16 player on Metroid Hunters would be pretty insane..
Oh and clearly, EA will utilise the second screen for adverts.

That would be akward, but that's not Nintendo's goal. There won't be any games like that. It will mostly be used for a stats screen, like you said, or as a second "controller" by using the stylus.
The top screen is a screen. Nothing more or less. It's not touch sensitive, it's just a screen. The bottom screen is touch sensitive, thus doubling as a "controller" of sorts.
I think a lot of people are going to be eating their own feet once the system comes out. You can't make any sort of judgement by screenshots alone.

can anyone really think up the different uses for two screens at once? map, second view... what else is there?

I think it could possibly be used as a chat lobby during wi-fi games.
I hope it is, Nintendo had better be reading this right now.

For those times when a backlit screen just isn't enough, the unused screen should turn in to a BIG BEAM OF LIGHT. Oh, wait, Nintendo would lose money on accessories, scratch that idea from ever happening unless someone else starts putting them in and Nintendo feels threatenned... I'm sure it might see light in a Nintendo DS SP release, though.

The Nintendo DS is going to be backlit... unless I'm missing your point... :p

I was just taking the oppurtunity to crack at Nintendo's SP again, I don't really want the big beam of light although... now that I think about it that COULD be convenient. I mean, say its dark...you can't see anything... then click, click, BIG BEAM OF LIGHT from the DS.

Of course! Infact, Nintendo could just create an entire new Gameboy system for that one gimmick! Imagine: the GB BBL - Game Boy Big Beam of Light!

If a wario ware game comes out on the DS (which it probably will) think of the things you could do with the bottom screen.... like, touching it and.... yeah.
It's make the top screen a bit pointless though.
In my view it's either going to be a rubbishy gimmick used solely to sell as many as possible, or something that will really make the DS stand apart from other portables.
