Will Yooka-Laylee be a commercial success?

Do you think that Yooka-Laylee will be a commercial success?
My worry is that almost everyone interested in the game already bought it during the Kickstarter campaign, in fact I didn't back for helping them with the sales.

it'll probably fare better than broken age or mighty number 9

and i think there's still plenty of people out there who didn't back it out of fear for the game possibly being bad, or just didn't know it existed, so there's still plenty of money to go around

This is the same reason why we're going to have a terrible president.

I think Yooka-Laylee will do well, yeah, given how ridiculously fast it got funded and how much positive press it's been getting. People really do want this style of game to make a comeback. I don't think it'll do worse than something like, say, Shovel Knight, and if it does really well it might even inspire a 3D platformer renaissance. Here's hoping.

Probably, but I don't really have a metric for how successful it could be. The last high profile rare like collectathon platformer was Sly 4. And it didn't sell so hot.

I don't think there's much overlap between Banjo fans and Sly fans, though, especially since PlayStation and Nintendo consoles were heated rivals during our formative years (now, it's mainly PlayStation vs. Xbox, with Nintendo being this other thing that's off to the side). But since Rare has always been the face of 3D collect-a-thon platformers, I fully expect Yooka-Laylee to make as big a splash as Shovel Knight (as I've said).

i haven't played sly 4 but i wouldn't really call any of the sly games collectathons. sly 1 is the closest and it's still more of just a linear, arcadey platforming action game, sly 2 and 3 were more open, mission-based stealth platforming action games and sly 4 wasn't even developed by sucker punch so that might've sapped a lot of interest people had in it. i know it kinda did for me

Nuts and bolts is a platinum seller, right? That means roughly 400,000 copies sold. Not too bad.

Yeah, not that. Big though. I don't think it'll be GOTY but it'll be a contender.
