Disney making "sequel"(?) to Wizard of Oz
So, I was browsing YouTube in the depths of Disney (for a reason that I do not know why) and this came right up:

I saw this on tumblr today. Looks pretty interesting, but I think it's actually a prequel because it looks like it actually is about the Wizard himself rather than Dorothy.

Sam Raimi is directing it. I'm hooked.

Looks good.
And... if anyone knows what is right they'll make the wicked witch look like Grunty.

Looks great, I'm really looking forward to it.
Grunty was actually explicitly based on the Wicked Witch of the West, Whyme.

It might be even a prequel to that. I'm not really familiar with the series source material tbh though, It's quite a big series of books. I presume if this is succesful they may finally charge ahead with an adaptation of Wicked that I think has been planned for a while now.

Well in the description is says Oscar Diggs becomes the Wizard of Oz:
"Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot--fame and fortune are his for the taking--that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity--and even a bit of wizardry--Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well." So it sounds like a prequel.
