As far as I know there's no law against doing it with cartridges

I don't bother with the cartridge, I go straight for the expansion pak slot.

I still secretly wish in my heart every time I see the Banjo Kazooie forum is updated that it isn't some boring useless post that doesn't have to do with updates to the franchise...

>expecting updates to the banjo-kazooie franchise in the year of our lord 2016 ad

rare can only make one game at a time and it takes six years to make them, so we won't see another banjo game until 2023 at the earliest unless microsoft gets someone else to make it like they did with killer instinct

I mean, they were already working on two games last year, so clearly they are able to. Most people think that they are already working on another game after Sea of Thieves, especially considering the hiring spree that they are on right. (Not that I think they are working on Banjo.)

I didn't know about the hiring spree. That's pretty interesting. What game were they working on last year? Rare Replay? I don't think that really counts since it's not a "full game" (obviously it still takes development resources but not as much as something like Sea of Thieves or a new Banjo game would)

Rare Replay was actually a huge effort, from what it seems like. If you think about it, the one game is emulating six different consoles, was the first use of backwards compatibility, emulates an original Xbox game, plus a ton of behind the scenes stuff. Obviously it wasn't on the level of a AAA game, but it certainly had lots of people working on it.

I'm more intrigued by the fact that Rare developers like BIGsheep were heavily involved in Rare Replay, but don't appear to be working on Sea of Thieves. He's clearly working on something, and considering his involvement in Rare Replay and Viva Pinata, maybe that something is a classic franchise.

Yeah, I basically said that

Still, I wasn't aware of a lot of this stuff because I don't really pay attention to what Rare is doing anymore. But I'm interested to see what else they're working on, if anything.
