It gets worse, ever see viral marketing? I don't have the picture of it saved, but close to the launch of the Perfect Dark remake for the XBox Live Arcade there was a long series of completely identical threads about it posted on 4chan's video games board. Every thread was a set of thirty or so screenshots posted over and over again and were popping up as fast as mods could delete them. The spammer at one point even commented on the backlash against his threads with something along the lines of "Whether you like it or not, you are serving us a purpose. There is nothing you can do about it".

So how does it feel knowing that someone inside Rare was paid to do this?

I suddenly regret buying that game.

Bacterial marketing. Kotaku game journalism. Paid off reviewers. EA, Activision, Microsoft...
It's those last few that are really corrupting the industry.

This video is the worst video ever

Like, "play pause play pause play pause play pause play pause play pause" is accurate to fault, the clips are interesting but it sounds like the actual guy narrating is just summarizing random facts.

I don't believe that game companies are bribing the gaming journalists for higher scores without any proof. And the video didn't help me believe either.

They are for magazines, it's where they get their funding for the most part.

Well, you did link us to a video that explained that connection for the most part. Game review and journalism sites benefit greatly from ad revenue put out by the very games they talk about. If you were on IGN in the last month you probably would have noticed the Mass Effect 3 ad banners, the Mass Effect 3 site header, the Mass Effect 3 backgrounds, and the Mass Effect 3 limited time promotions. It's like asking the president of Mc-Donalds what his favorite soda is, of course he'll say Coke.

On a semi-related note; the Forbes recognizes that the game industry treats their customers like shit.

Less so, but I'm fairly sure that it still happens. They're not getting money through magazine sales, but they're not losing money from having to print the magazines, but webhosting is still a matter.

Well I have found no proof if it the conspiracy from this thread, therefore I do not believe it even more. Please try again with actual proof or I will not believe it more.
