I have an incredible love-it-or-hate-it affair with Saints Row IV. The Third was just disappointing, but this one at least feels fast and interesting. Aesthetically, it's better than The Third.

Still, it's just a huge case of trying too hard across the board. It's trying too hard to be funny. It's trying too hard to be nostalgic. It's trying too hard to be wacky and insane. It's pushing everything through the roof so hard that it just becomes watered down and sterile when you step back and take a look at it.

This game and Borderlands 2 are reasons why I really think most game developers and writers need to stop seeing themselves as comedians because both games are just meme-packed phlegm.

I can understand why you wouldn't like the humor in Saints Row IV, but I don't really think "game developers need to stop trying to be comedians" is really true because you're basically saying video game writers should stop trying to write funny games because these two games were not funny to you--at least, that's how it's coming across to me, forgive me if I'm misunderstanding. Make no mistake, I think Borderlands 2 is the ****ing pits when it comes to humor, but that doesn't mean video game writers need to stop being funny. Some of them are good at humor, others are kind of shit. Some of them just have a different sense of humor from yours. I hated BL2 and I constantly rail on it's writing in general, but I enjoyed SR4. Just so happens that you dislike both.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, there are tons of cleverly-written games that have genuinely made me laugh (for the right reasons). Telltale and Double Fine were two companies that come to mind right away when it comes to specializing in stuff like that.

I was mainly just exaggerating, but it can't be denied that there seems to be a lot of bro-headed writing as far as humor in mainstream video gaming goes. I can't blame them, what with our culture being the way it is, but I can't really say I enjoy it either.

While I was out I played through Sly Cooper 1 and 2 on the Vita before checking out Cel Damage HD and Urban Trial Freestyle, some of Smash on 3DS, a little Minecraft on Xbox One, and way to much Spider-man Unlimited on my iPhone.

Well, I just beat Starfox 64. Easy as hell, didn't die once!

Now I'm tackling Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Star Ocean 2 on psp, Yoshi's Island GBA, and some Smash Wii U here and there.

There's something about the first Borderlands that makes me play it for 6+ hour increments, losing track of the time in my gaming that Borderlands 2 just couldn't hold a candle to. I especially like how subtle the humor and references are, versus BL2's REFERENCES AND PEOPLE SCREEAAMINNNGG!!!!

I always demolish that game... except when I go for the Alternate Victory route and have to face Andross's true form. Can't figure out how to fight him without constantly U-Turning into him and dying ;_;

Just beat Resident Evil 1 last thursday, playing as Chris.

Finished Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and had a lot of fun with it, looking forward to getting the sequel.

I'm also playing Tomodachi Life and Grim Fandango atm, and I intend to continue Alpha Sapphire sometime tomorrow.
