I'm highly interested in the bunny thing if you wanna drop a link. From what I understand they came up with the ink mechanics first; Splatoon was almost a Mario game because that would guarantee sales, but they decided to let it become a new I.P.

I really don't need any sort of "hardcore mode;" but you know what I would like? The ability to play custom games with people on the RWP, and it would be nice to talk to them during it. I'd like little challenges that keep the game interesting for years after release. These aren't absurd requests, and it's ridiculous that Nintendo is still so behind.

this game will be 75% DLC, I bet.
I don't think I have ever flip-flopped this much on an upcoming game before. At first I didn't care for it, then after the first Splatoon direct I got decently excited, now I feel like I've played the game already and it isn't even out yet (didn't do the test play thing). |

So I guess the entire shipment of the Inkling Amiibos in Europe has been stolen. Scalpers jacked a friggin lorry.

this just in: scalpers have stolen an armored personel carrier containing the entire shipment of chunky kong amiibos that was planned to be shipped out following the release of donkey kong 64 2: hunky chunky's challenge
as core game mechanics relied on this amiibo, it will now be physically impossible to finish the game in europe Last edited by The Colonel; 28th May 2015 at 04:28 PM. |

So Splatoon is just going to be critically panned by everyone just like Zombie U isn't it?

Zombie U wasn't really panned. It has a 77, the general consensus is that it was pretty good, with some things that could have been improved upon in a sequel. Splatoon has an 81. Main complaint being not much content for the asking price.

Kind of a weird comparison.. but no, the reviews are all generally positive, they just all bring up that Splatoon is kind of lacking in game modes. I'm sure I'll love Splatoon for the next couple weeks, but eventually the novelty wears off, and a good multiplayer game will keep you interested for years. (Hell, I've been playing the same map in Counter-Strike for over a decade now.) I'm concerned that in July I won't be interested enough to play the game again.

If it were up to me Splatoon would be moved to this fall.
And bear in mind I haven't played the global splatfire and at this point is just a bunch of disappointment at full price. In other words, its needs more on the disk than what is currently on it.

I would appreciate some more global testfires because I played for fifteen minutes and decided I didn't like what I played. I didn't enjoy 2 of the 3 loadouts I tried and it was only one stage against four people every time, who may as well be NPCs. I love the look of this game, I see the potential, I definitely want to try the single-player... so come on, Nintendo, sell your game to me. Sheesh.

Alright.
So I'd still say that all the issues previously mentioned are still there, and I think may eventually prove to be big problems if they aren't patched in the next couple months. Also, the fact that the maps rotate every few hours... why? It's craziness, and I've never seen a game do that. In my couple hours of play last night, I was also disconnected several times, which was quite frustrating. All that said, that's pretty much where my complaining ends. If you were interested in this game but were turned off by the lack of voice chat and the other issues, just forget all that and buy Splatoon. What is there is incredibly well polished and thought out. There seems to be quite a good balance, and after I adjusted to the roller it was pretty easy to stop that. (Despite seeming OP in the beginning.) The single player is interesting, though I only got through the first stage, there's some cool platforming there. Overall though, I was incredibly impressed with how quickly matchmaking occurred and just how speedy the rounds are. I love that they only take three minutes, and it's effortless to jump into the next match. I could see this becoming very addictive.

If it makes you guys feel any better, I got the Prima guide on impulse when getting the game (because they were out of the Amiibos) and there's a "Coming Soon" feature that shows four new stages, a new game mode, and nine new weapons in development. No details on a release date though.
