If it's anything like Little Big Planet, most of the levels will be trash with the rare gem hidden in there. I'm sure the game will be fun, but I'm not really interested in the game.

To be fair, I've already seen ten or so awesome levels that I want to play, and the game isn't even out yet.

Well yeah, beta access is only begin handed out to the most die hard of fans and members of the games media. Same thing happened for Little Big Planet 3. Once the game officially releases there will be plenty of bad levels created.

I mean, of course, but I don't have to play the bad ones. Hopefully they have a good rating system in place.

Of all the 2D platformers I've played, I haven't actually played a ton of Mario.
Nevertheless, I feel like I'll end up dumping a ton of time into this game. |

I agree. Honestly, whenever I played LBP I didn't feel that it was all that fun. I think it has something to do with the actual "feeling" of moving Sackboy through a level. With Mario, just the act of moving him feels right, so a level could potentially be just nothing but pits of varying width and it would be fun to play.

I think the key differences between Mario Maker and LittleBIGPlanet are that Mario Maker is a very fun game to play and create stuff in, and LittleBIGPlanet is a very infuriating, yet rewarding game to wrangle together something totally ****ing nuts that is one tweaked value away from totally shitting the bed and, in some cases, makes use of a hardcoded engine bug that will render it unplayable when the next game is released.
Mario Maker is a game for people who want to play around, and LittleBIGPlanet is a game for people who's idea of playing around is to build a horrific unstable monstrosity over the course of a few months. Last edited by The Colonel; 5th September 2015 at 06:52 PM. |

I don't like how all of these review outlets got their copies so early and put out their reviews so early. Just makes me want it more. This isn't really a game you can spoil so I have no problem looking at lots of footage.

The identity of Bowser Jr.s mother has just been reviled. This is not a drill.
Also, there's a day 1 patch that replaces the 9 day tutorial with unlocks every 15 minutes.

That patch is really awesome. I'm glad they saw just how dumb that arbitrary restriction was

Nintendo, the company that makes really weird decisions but actually does learn from them?
But then proceed to make completely different weird arbitrary decisions elsewhere next time?

Was there some promotion for this game that I didn't pay attention to?
I got a shipping confirmation from Amazon this morning and it knocked off $10. |
