So do you think you'd move to Linux should, for whatever reason, your current version of Windows XP, Vista or 7, is stopped to force you onto a tablet OS?

Windows 8's links with Microsoft's Xbox Live online game service could also dent the appeal of Steam for many people.
Erm, what? You mean they're going to block every other digital distributor and have a monopoly? Or somehow it's going to be so amazing all those Steam sales are going to look like complete rip offs? Come on, BBC. Stop being retarded.

I would enjoy the chance to move to linux.. It would give me a chance to learn it.

but, at this point, I think anyone who is an anyone knows that windows 8 is going to be a repeat of ME and vista.

Expect support for 8 to be dropped around 2018 or 2019. Let it only have the 6 or so years ME and Vista had

Especially because this isn't the first time.
Well, it is the first time they are doing it and people know about it before hand.

There was nothing in the ME or vista pre-release that told the masses it is shitte

Personally, I think this is a great chance for Ubuntu to create something more user friendly, even if they have to sell it for something like at least, maximum, £50. I would pay that to ensure I was on a secure, open operating system which I can install software on easily without having to do a Linux course. Even if it came with something like Wine built in to automatically install Windows software should someone want it.

Well, I need to get a new laptop before they are pre-installed with Windows 8 in October if I want to reinstall steam. Not that theirs any problem with just changing the interface to the interface of Windows 7 instead of using the stupid looking windows phone interface. Though I could be wrong about that, I could be wrong about a whole bunch of thing that aren't related to this thread.

You do realize that if you get a laptop that isn't using an ARM processor, you can install windows 7 on it?
