Anybody play the Timesplitters series here?
And would you prefer them over one of Rares FPS offerings?
Just curious.

I played the third on the gamecube and it was pretty awesome. I really wish we could get some remakes with online multiplayer cuz it was fun as hell

I'm a bit of a TimeSplitters fanboy. It, together with Perfect Dark, is the only FPS series i'm willing to play voluntarily

Yeah, I loved the Gamecube-era Timesplitters game. They were one of the very few good first person shooters on the GCN, though I had already moved to the Xbox and Halo for my pew pewing. Most of my enjoyment came from frantic four player split screen, and especially the map creator mode. My friends and I spent hours and hours making maps, and I wish it was more common in shooters.
If you didn't know, the games were made by Free Radical Design (aka Crytek UK) which was the receiver of the exodus of Rare employees from the Microsoft acquisition. That may be why a lot of us like it so much, and has so many similarities to Goldeneye 64.

I still find it interesting how I naturally gravitated towards ex-rare members' games. I didn't know they were ex employees until years after I played it

Didn't someone here work at Free Radical?

I tried playing the original Timesplitters earlier this year, but it's kind of awful now. Timesplitters 2 is still fun, though.
Yeah, I think now they're actually working on the sequel to Homefront. So expect that to be massively better than the original Homefront, I guess, which was a smelly pile of bad CoD clone. Last edited by The Colonel; 21st October 2014 at 05:51 PM. |

Well, what I do know is that Crytek UK itself has been in bad financial weather too; don't even know if it exists anymore.

I really enjoyed the Timesplitters series, especially Future Perfect. I loved making maps and especially messing around with the idea of teleportation in the second game. Multiplayer and some of the challenges available were things I got into as well. I'd really have to go back and play them again someday.

I'm in love with the one player story mode of both 2 and Future Perfect

I loved playing FP's story with my brother, though because horror gets to me, I'm often pretty awful at a certain pair of levels.

I looooved the haunted mansion in FP. It was such a random change of tone, but it was so cool too. I wish I could replay it with someone

I'd replay it in co-op with anyone who's actually decent at FPSes. I really dislike playing the Mansion of Madness in FP because of how scary it is. Also, it's difficult for someone who sucks at FPS like me
