I should really buy them and see if I enjoy them as much as everyone else does

If you don't buy this amazing old generation of Donkey Kong madness, you are stupid.

I know it's insulting, but it's also true.

Wasn't donkey kong already on the eShop like a couple of months now? Or is that only in Europe?

There was this deal going on in the eShop that if you bought one of the Donkey Kong Lands, you'd get discount off of DKCR 3D, and ditto for the DKCs and Tropical Freeze.

Well, my dong is certainly expanded! I bought all three DKCs as soon as I heard. I can't believe it took this long to get them in America. And that old-school trailer tickled my nostalgia bone something fierce.

Now, as the resident Donkey Kong superfan, I feel obliged to respond...

Keep in mind that the first one is very bare-bones; there are no hidden levels and your only reward for finding all the bonuses is a slightly different ending. I still think it's a great game, definitely worth your eight bucks, but if you're going to try it, play it for the humor, music, and atmosphere alone.

DKC2 and 3, on the other hand, are much more complex, with hidden levels, multiple (different) endings, side quests, etc. They're a little more like the Banjo games, but in 2D form and with a slightly darker/moodier tone. Highly recommended. And if you need help, forget GameFAQs and hit me up! I am a crazy expert at all three of these games.

Here's a tip for anyone who's playing these for the first time: you do need all the Kremcoins (in DKC2), Bonus Coins and Banana Birds (in DKC3), and DK Coins (in both) to see the whole game, including several hidden levels and the "true" ending of each game.

I heard about this last night. I just watched the Nintendo of America trailer for the game - it's amazing!

Oh, yeah! What a loyal recreation of the original DKC commercial. They even brought back 'Play It Loud!' Radical!

So hey, if anyone here is playing these for the first time, how are you faring?
