Favorite DKC2 world?
As always, I have added my own Donkey Kong Country poll, not to be outdone.
![]() And here are the choices...
I guess I have to say, once again, Gangplank Galleon is #1 for me. The music is great, every detail is perfect, (like how water splashes from the bottom of the screen every time you beat an enemy) and the fact that this game starts where the last one ended is beautiful genius. However, I have to say I enjoyed this game much more than I enjoyed its predecessor, especially since the level themes were so much more varied (like volcano-themed levels, or levels set inside the Zinger hive) or better looking that they used to be. (like mine shaft levels) Crocodile Cauldron and the Flyinc Croc would be close second choices for me, just for being so darned original.

I liked the Lost World. And DKC is better than DKC2 IMO, though not by much.

I haven't played that game in a loooong time... I am pretty sure there was a carnivalish world that I always liked though.

Krazy Kremland. The rollercoaster levels were awesome.
Gangplank Galleon gets a close second.

I can't decide between the Keep and the Flying Ship. I'll vote later when I've made up my mind. Highlights...
Keep - These levels were just great and for once they were exceedingly challenging. That level where you have to climb up the tower while the Toxic was rising? Aggravating gold. Flying Ship - Last boss, cool theme, fun thorn stage, etc. The only problem was that its only real stage felt like a copy+paste+palette+structure swap of that Krem Quay level and there wasn't much else added to it all in all. Hmm. EDIT: Keep it is. |

I have no doubt in my mind on this one. Krazy Kremland!
I am a huge fan of theme parks and roller coasters... take all that and give it a Kremling theme, and you have pure joy. I love the fast-paced levels in the DKC games, such as the mine cart rides in DKC, and the roller coaster levels in DKC2. Krazy Kremland has two awesome coaster levels, including the most insanely fast-paced level in the game (Rickety Race, also my favorite level.... don't forget to go backwards in the beginning to hit the boost and make things truly crazy!). But on top of that, it introduces the clever beehive levels, and the bramble and swamp themes make a return as well. But I like all the worlds in DKC2 in their own way; it's quite possibly my favorite game of all time, after all... |

Finally, a Donkey Kong Country 2 related thread!
Gangplank Galleon is my favorite world. But my favorite level in the entire game has got to be Bramble Scramble. I love the music to that level ![]() |

My favorite level in the game is Rattle Battle. I love how they gave it its own musical theme that no other world has, and you get to play as Rattly for the majority of it... I mean, it's just, without a shadow of a doubt, the most quintessentially DKC2 level in the whole game! Think about it. A ship deck level. Fighting oodles of pirates. Rattly, who never showed up again. Being transformed for the whole level, a trend that started in this game. Bonus barrels, see above. Everything is just placed in such a fantastic way to ensure the perfect unspoiled DKC2 experience.

The Keep it's so friking hard some levels you didn't have time to look or wait you just had to go with what was going to happen and hopefully not screw up.

Another favorite level of mine is Screech's Sprint. Like I mentioned before, I love fast-paced levels, and this one definitely fits that bill. But there's no set track for you to go on in this one; it's all you and your skill, and how fast you're willing to take it so you don't crash into the brambles. It's really fun, and I love the challenge. Screech is also an awesome nemesis to Squawks... I really wish he would've shown up more than once in the history of the DK series. Still, if PAON keeps making more DK games, who knows- he might turn up again! |
