I can offer no strategy here, for the classic DK arcade is 100% about personal skill.
Just keep trying. It'll never get easy, but it will get easier, enough to get the coin.

That's going to be one hell of an annoyance, good luck on it.

I can offer help on level 3 on the arcade.Wait for the secound elevator to get about an inch above your platorm your on.Then quickly jump up on it then jump again to another platorm before it goes down to far.You should reach a little platorm with a ladder which takes you right near Peach or Paluine, whoever it is,those springs wount hit you when finshed climbing up the ladder. So start making a quick run for it. This just saves you time from going the other way which has to many fireballs.

Helpful Hints:
1. Refrain from dying. This can cause you to have to start over and ignore any previous accomplishments you've done on a said level. 2. Try to meet up with the pretty girl. This will help you advance in the game. 3. Don't touch Donkey Kong. 4. Don't touch those barrels he throws at you. 5. Use the A button to jump. Hope those helped

By the way, the Hammers don't help you at all until the fourth stage. Don't grab one until then.

I'm playing through DK64 for the first time in a while, and I did the DK Arcade just earlier today. You just have to practice and you'll get better.

I suppose it helps if you grew up in the 80s with all those games - I had a BBC computer and had played Donkey Kong (BBC version) and several clones, and Jetpac (BBC version) as well! Of course, these weren't the hardest games around by any means, so I found them a walk in the park on the N64. Yes, I do use the D-pad, not the analogue stick. I use the shortcut on Level 3 of DK. Other than that, it's just timing, really. You'll get better as you practise.
My personal challenge (as I'm a 100% perfectionist-type, as shown in the topic about the number of coins left), as well as collecting absolutely everything there is to collect, is to complete DK 3 times in Frantic Factory - after getting the Golden Banana and the Nintendo Coin, the game becomes even harder, the equivalent of completing all four levels twice in a row, so you're in effect starting on level 9. Now THAT is hard. Upon completing those four levels, you don't get anything. If you attempt the game again, it still starts on level 9, not level 13. Cheers, Matt Cheers, Matt |
