Retro Gaming Magazine Does it Again!

The making of DKC. Really pretty interesting, I never thought Diddy would have originally been an updated DK Jr. The Diet DK name for him certainly made me chuckle.

Thanks a lot for posting that. Gregg has yet again delivered fantastic input on the history of one of the most beloved games of all time.
And lol at Titchy and Dinky Kong. Also downloading the .zip file of the it now ![]()

There ought to be a banana flavored soda called "Diet Kong".
It would sell. A lot. |

Muy interesante. Diet Kong... Can you imagine if that had been Diddy's name? I wouldn't be able to take him seriously.

Diet Kong? ...sounds like a great name for a low-carb Gamer Fuel!
Anyway, I'll read the article after I log off purposely, to keep from doing it otherwise.

Very interesting article, I liked it! Hopefully there will be more in the future, like a Diddy Kong Racing one!

All right, I read it. And was actually very interested. I do have to wonder, though, why was Mr. Miyamoto so supportive of the project at first, even when the Rare boys took their demonstration to Japan, if he was going to bash it later as an inferior copy of his Mario game? That sounds pretty turncoat-y to me. However, I was a bit disappointed at the fact that this article only went over the first DKC... I really would have liked it if they had gone into DKC2 and even beyond that. I was very pleased to see that one guy (sorry, I forgot his name and I'm much too lazy to go check the article again) said he considered DKC2 to be better than the original, and for the same reasons I share his opinion. I really look forward to a follow-up with the rest of Rare's Donkey Kong legacy, if there ever is one.
