Julliard College
Well I'm in middle school right now, but plan on going to Julliard to be either a pianist or music composer. I've been taking piano lessons for a little over 4 years, and am playing some pretty advanced pieces, and I feel that I am doing pretty well. Julliard is one of the hardest schools to get into, and I'm taking my piano lessons very seriously, but I feel theres alot more I could do. If anyone knows of a good book or site, or could give me any tips that would be great. Don't worry I don't want your money, or maybe I do...

If you're still in middle school, it's more than likely you're going to change your career once or twice before deciding on the right one. Most people think "Hey, i'm good at this, i'll surely end up doing it for my job!", unfortunately, this isn't always the case. Some people just find they're better at one thing (or just preffer one thing) over another, or maybe you just grow bored of that particular idea.
However, if you do stick with music and are still planning on going to college for it once you hit about 16, i'd say shoot for the highest possible one, and even if you don't make it into that one, you've still got a couple more to fall back on. Good luck though, i'm still deciding on what career i'm going to choose .( ps: piano is the best instrument ever. ) |

Good luck.
My band director's daughter has been playing flute probably since she came out of the womb (since her dad is a band director after all). She's played in the city symphony, played for some of the best flutists in the world, and traveled to Europe several times I believe, yet she still did not make it into Julliard. And she is as good as they make her out to be; I've personally met her and heard her play. I'm not trying to crush your dreams and stuff, I'm just saying you're going to have to try very, very hard. If it's something you love, go for it. If you're not willing to give it your all, you won't make it. Music NEEDS to be your #1 passion if you seriously intend to go there for it. |
