Banjo and Kazooie- years apart?
What have Banjo and Kazooie been doing for eight years? Reading the character descriptions on Rareware.com, it suddenly struck me that they may have actually been separated from each other for a large part of that time.
Let's look at the descriptions for Banjo and Kazooie. Quote:
But here's the real kicker that convinced me of this theory: Kazooie's description. Quote:
Also, "over her confinement"?! What in the world does that mean? Has she been imprisoned somewhere? Aww, Kazooie, we always knew you'd get in trouble someday... So, here's what I think. Kazooie got bored of the peaceful life of retirement Banjo wished to live after saving the Isle o' Hags from utter zombification. Even though they were great friends, as time dragged on, they decided to go their separate ways in life. Then perhaps Kazooie got in trouble and was jailed? Sounds a bit crazy, but I wouldn't put it past Rare. After this, Banjo and Kazooie were out of contact until just recently before the game starts. Perhaps Kazooie is even jailed IN Showdown Town, and they don't meet up again until after the adventure begins. At any rate, the old dear friends have just recently met again and are learning to work together once more. This also gives an explanation for the painful fact that the bear and bird seem to focus more on gadgets and less on their own interacting skills now; over that long expanse of time, they have forgotten how to work effectively together using their own natural abilities. |

I'm pretty sure "confinement" just refers to Banjo's backpack, considering she'll be in there the whole time.

Yeah. I can't imagine Kazooie doing nothing all that time. I smell a spinoff a la Daxter. xD I bet she had some adventures on her own.

I think by "confinement", they meant confinement in Banjo's backpack
![]() Since she seems to have a responsibility with Mumbo's wrench thing, she doesn't just sit in the backpack waiting until Banjo needs her. If you notice from the videos, her head seems to be poking out a lot more than it used to.

I don't think they seperated. You're looking too much into it

Maybe I am looking too much into it, but it still makes sense to me. No matter what "confinement" means, the other arguments still stand. Maybe it's just that I can't imagine them staying together this long if Banjo wanted to have a completely peaceful life. I think their differing natures finally come into conflict, but it's not until this game that they realize how much they truly need each other again. (Awww.) |

So you're basically assuming Kazooie didn't think the peaceful life was boring until all of a sudden Tooty got kidnapped and they went adventuring? They've always been together. Don't try and change that.

Erm, I'm not trying to change it. It's only a theory. Heck, if they stayed together this whole time I'd be very happy, but I'm just suggesting that time passes and things change. Even the closest of friends can grow apart, but when they are united again they are reminded of how much they matter to each other.

Wouldn't surprise me if they separated. Perhaps Diddy Kong racing happened during that time? You don't lose much weight driving and it would fit with the new vehicle style.
As for kazooie, I have no idea. I don't think she would have gone for an adventure solo but she was definitely up to something. Hopefully that annoyed some people eager to correct me on when Diddy kong racing was based ![]() |

Diddy Kong Racing, in my view, has no place in Banjo canon.
Though he appears and the game does have a story, nothing really ties it to the series' continuity. |
