Dr. Mario Online RX

My friend code: 5030-1133-7800

This game is really good. It's most definitely targeted more at hardcore Dr. Mario fans- The virus levels are, for the most part, harder than they were in previous installments and they've provided a ranking system in online play. I was concerned they were gonna tone this down too much for a widespread audience, but luckily, I was wrong.

The online play is great. I have yet to encounter any kind of lag or disconnection. And, although not exactly good in general, they allow for various messages to be sent to opponents- And any kind of communication is good for Nintendo at this point.

Anyone else have it?

I just bought it this morning. I haven't played Dr. Mario in quite awhile, so I still suck at it, but I'd love to play online with you guys.

EDIT: My code is 4596-3660-0202. I added you, Dylan.

Yeah I bought this the other day (although it's called & Germ Buster instead of RX for me). Online play is absolutely excellent. To be honest, I hadn't actually played the original as my first console was the N64 (was there an n64 version? I vaguely recall but I could be wrong, regardless I didn't get it at the time), but I'd heard good things and I'd gotten into a serious Tetris frenzy as of late so I thought I'd give it a try.

This game is so damn awesome Though in terms of win/rating ratio I'm probably not that great at the moment, heh.

My friend code is 4836-5907-0232 if anyone wants to add me. Just send me a PM or whatever.

Is this game worth it? I saw it on the Shop Channel but I didn't feel like spending 1000 points on it. I'm not that big fan of Dr. Mario, based on the version in WarioWare anyway but if you don't mind, can you give me a summary of whether or not it's worth the purchase?

Yes, and it remains the best in the series not counting online play as it has an entire awesome story mode and a great character roster (Vampire Wario ftw).

Yes it's worth the purchase. The WarioWare version may not keep you entertained for long... But it has no multiplayer. This version, with multiplayer and online play, makes for a lot of fun. Plus, there's always the new Virus Buster mode that uses the Wii Pointer if you get tired of the normal play.

It's possible for people who actually own the game to send you a demo of it if you want, so long as they're within the same region (or rather their Wii is) and you both have access to the internet. At least, that's what I've been lead to believe. If you really want to try it I could try sending you the demo. I'd just have to look into the method of how you do it a bit more.

I had it for the SNES, and by had I mean have.
It was Dr. Mario and Tetris.
And it had 2 player.

I might get Dr Mario and Germ Buster. But i'm more likely to wait and get Strongbads Cool Game For Attractive People, since it's a point and click.

Actually, it lets you do online play with whoever sent you the demo, but that's it.

Ah ok Well like I said, I wasn't familiar with the process of how the demo-thing worked yet but I thought I'd offer anyway. Ah well.

Tetris.

All you do is put some bricks in a hole. How is that possible fun and attract so many people.

Because it's a puzzle game, and you have to line up the ends of the pills so that there is a line of 3 or more of the same colour next to a virus of the same colour, and the pill pieces and virus will be removed.

Or you can just stack some of the same colour pill ends together and remove them regardless of the viruses.

Basically there are 3 colours of virus: red, blue and yellow
Pills have two parts to them, it will be 2x1 in size, you can have any combinate of red, blue and yellow in it, including two of the same colour.

It's a puzzle game, it's fun because it's...

I have no idea, I just play it because it's addictive, and because I always used to suck at that and Tetris, and I want to get better at them.

For some reason.

I bought this game a couple of days after it came out after hearing nothing but good things about it, but to be honest I found the game pretty boring and wish I could have that 1000 Wii points back.

As an Artistic game it would and should win every award going, the attention to detail is pretty amazing. It just seems like they focussed all on detail and not on the game itself. But saying it's an art piece as well; in the above land shots it is, it's just you spend the majority of the game in dark blue caves which all look the same and don't have anything to make them stand out at all so really it's not much of an art piece for most of the game either.

It just seemed like you do really do... anything at all, just too slow paced and boring for my liking. And it does occasionally jog or glitch a bit which really shouldn't happen and the music was pretty annoying after a while as well.

Still, I guess most people like the game, perhaps it's just not my thing but I fail to realise what's fun about the game itself rather than nice to look at in certain areas. I'm the only person I've seen with this view on the game though so you might like it. It's more of a "relaxing" game, which means just that, not much happens and there's not much fun. Bah, guess I just want my 7 quid back
