Mario Super Sluggers

This came out in Japan today and through...um..totally legal means...I got it and have been playing it. I played a quick game just a little bit ago on what I assume is the Quick Play mode or along those lines. I played on Mario Stadium with a team of Diddy, Dixie, Magikoopa, Koopa Troopa, Paragoomba, Luigi, King Boo, Hammer Bro and Wario and after said game unlocked Tiny Kong. Dunno what the exact requirements were (like if it had anything to do with using DK characters or not) though.

Anyway, the game is fun. It doesn't really stand out as amazing or anything (but it's a Mario sports game, so ) but it's fun. Motion control can be a bit awkward at times (most notably when pitching) but it is optional; you can choose before a match begins whether you want to use motion control or just flip the remote on its side and use the buttons/pad.

Graphics are decent, nothing has really stood out as far as sound goes (other than an upbeat arrangement of the Let's Play Baseball theme from the first Mario Baseball that plays during the games intro and a nice little remix of the Mario 64 castle theme I heard in a demo).

Anyway, anyone got anything to ask about this game? Anyone even...care?

(as a side note, there is no WiFi mode; the NWFC logo isn't even on the box art).

I liked the original mario baseball so if there's a mario spinoff I would get it would be this one.

Few questions:

1. Can you tell me what the stadiums are this time? And did they add new capitans?
2. Does it still have the minigame where 4 players took turns batting and fielding and they got coins and that?
3. I assume there's a new adventure mode, does it still have the insane requirements to make each character a superstar?

The Stadiums I can see so far (not sure if there are any unlockables) are Peach Rink, Mario Stadium, DK Jungle, Wario City, and Yoshi Park.

Captains so far (not sure if any unlockable characters can be used as captains like King K. Rool or something...will get back to you if so though. ) are DK, Diddy, Wario, Birdo, Daisy, Luigi, Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Waluigi, Bowser Jr. and Bowser.

These I am not sure of yet, haven't played any mode other than the Quick Play so far. Have to get back to you on that too.

EDIT: Just unlocked something else by playing another round, not sure what yet though. The message was in Japanese and I don't see any new stadiums or characters...hm.

EDIT2: Story mode (called Challenge Mode in the game) features pre-rendered FMV cutscenes. That was unexpected.

EDIT3: FUNKY KONG BATS WITH A MOTHER****ING SURFBOARD Holy **** I have to figure out how to unlock him.

Is the AI cheap as hell like the first? Like, if you have a sucky character on your team, who can't hit worth a ****, then they go on another team, they get home-runs? (Happens to me with Birdo. Damn tranny reptiles).

So far the AI has been pretty ****, to be honest. It's like you'd have to try to lose.

If Superstar Baseball is any indication, then the Sluggers AI will ramp up to Ghoulies Challenge 21-esque difficulty higher up in challenge mode.

And what does Tiny bat with?

Just from the general scope of things, what would you rate the game say... out of 10? I've been vaguely interested in the game, and I mean I liked Strikers and then Mario Tennis on the N64, so I'm no stranger to Mario Sports games. It's just, I'm not an *incredibly* dedicated fan of the spin-offs so I like to pick and choose them, you know? So yeah, just for a casual bit of fun do you think it will be worth it?

Mmm...I'd say maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10. Just above average.
