Creation of Forums

Has anybody here ever created their own forum? I'm in the process as of now, and I'm just about finished. A link will be posted in the Advertising Thread once it's done.

If you have created a forum in the past or have plans on creating one, then why don't you tell us a little bit about it?

InvisionFree boards are pretty easy to make, the skins are kind of tough though. All free. Also, I had used this thing called Burning Light which was free, but you had to host it on your own domain since the file was so large. Still pretty simple though.

InvisionFree is some of my favorite software, but is actually going to become (okay, possibly) after ZetaBoard is able to get completely off the ground. Granted, they're both from the same guys, but ZB is on the up-and-up...

ZB looks more professional, but IF seems more customizable.

Invision is a lot more user friendly, I think. It's a more fun environment, whereas the ZetaBoards are more streamlined, and a bit more ridged. Sure, they're a bit easier to put together, but I never would have made the transition a second time.

That was for a gaming store I used to go to, but the store owner was a jerk and didn't want to use it, even though several people wanted a store forum.

The board is a direct take from my Luigi's Mansion fan site. I never really expected it to take off in a heartbeat, but it'd be nice to have a little community dedicated to LM. Sadly, barely anyone has posted on it and yet I have tons of visitors (who aren't me ) detailed the history.

From reviewing your forum, I find it needs a lot of work. To start off, I wouldn't dedicate an entire forum to a single game. You'll find it doesn't work. Instead, why don't you base it on an entire series, such as Super Mario Bros? That way, Luigi's Mansion can be included, as well as many other games.

I believe I did the Twilight Brigade forum. Remember spending countless hours tweaking with all the fun admin controls .
