here you go guys, nintendo fans can finally enjoy the technical marvel of DVDs.
DVD playback is FINALLY available for the wii, even though its a hack.
http://hackmii.com/2008/08/libdi-and...vdx-installer/ check it out if your only console is a wii and your either dont own a dvd player, or hate having both hooked up.

Lack of DVD playback is something I've really never been too bothered by about the Wii ...right now I have my TV/DVD player combo, my DVD recorder, and my Xbox 360 which all function as DVD players...I think I'm good for now.

DVD players are DVD players. PS2s are DVD players. Xbox 360s are DVD players. PS3s are DVD players (right?)
I really could care less about the Wii having one. It's not like it needs it. |

I'm guessing I'm the only one who is happy about this.. I already tested it with Beavis and Butthead Do American and it played it fine. Sure, the standard DVD player these days costs about $20, but why bother paying it when you have something else that can do it, and more?
Plus, I don't have to switch between TV inputs. ![]()

I'm happy using my PS2 thank you very much, that or the other DVD players I have. But it's still kinda neat though.

In fact, I watched the Futurama movies streaming on the Wii Internet Channel.

Personally, I like my video game system to be my video game system, my DVD player to be my DVD player, my music player to be my music player, and my phone to be my phone. Call me old hat if you will, but I like to have individual items for individual purposes. I can see the niftiness of an all-in-one, but with DVD players being as affordable as they are, at this point it's better to just go and get one. Be that as it may, I can see how some years ago when DVDs were new and players less affordable, that a DVD player + game system was nice. In the same way I can see how the Blu-ray movie playing function of the PS3 is valuable with Blu-ray players still very expensive stand-alone. However, if it ever gets to the point where blu-rays are mainstream, then that value will wear off too. So I kinda like to stick to separate units. Plus, if one breaks you don't lose your game system and your movie player.
