Ebay Problems Thread

About a week ago, I bought Crackdown off eBay. Used, for only 10$. As always, I payed directly after the auction ended. That's within 10 minutes afterwards. I got an email saying "Your payment was recieved, and you will recieve another email when you item is shipped". A week later, and the f'ing lazy seller still hasn't shipped the damned thing. Before you say anything about "lawl luk at his ratingz nub" they were 99.6%, at like 60,000-something. From the few negatives I saw (after buying the game) most of them were saying that he shipped extremely late. There's an instance where a person waited a month to recieve something. Oddly enough, most of the posative ones said he had fast shipping. I dunno. So I sent this guy a message yesterday asking him about when he's going to ship my game, and there's no responce yet.

There's two purposes to this thread. Any advice on my situation, and any bad experiences you may have had with eBay yourself.

He's got 99.6% feedback so it seems unlikely that he's scammed you, maybe something came up on his end that's monopolizes his attention or maybe he just completely forgot, it happens.

I'd say wait a little while longer for a response to your mail and if nothing happens, contact eBay/Paypal about it.

Haven't had a bad experience with eBay yet (though I haven't used it in quite some time)...I did get sold a pirated copy of Advance Wars once..it worked fine so I didn't realise until months later. >.>

he had a good rating because it is COMPLETELY impossible to make spare accounts and give yourself good ratings

You can report him after waiting a week.
eBay will contact him.
If he doesn't send it a week after being contacted, eBay will refund your money.

Boy, that reminds me. Last Christmas, my dad bought a projector type thing off Ebay for around $300. He got it in the mail on time but when we opened it, it was broken. We contacted the seller becuase he did say he had a 30 day return period. We emailed him for the full 30 days with no answer and THEN he said "Sorry, it's been over 30 days." So, thankfully my dad bought insurance on the package fom the post office. So, he called up the post office and they said they would refund the $300.

It's been almost a whole year and the post office still hasn't given us the money

99.6% positive feedback says to me that you are simply unlucky. Everyone has a bad day or an accidental mishap. You just happen to be the 1/1000 .

I read somewhere that due to the ebay ratings system, 99.6% rating is not a good rating. I forget the math of why though.


EDIT: Though I had read that xkcd strip before, the text commentary was not what I was referring to.
