Fixed, because it hurt to read it otherwise. Anyway, I think that it's very good that someone is cracking down on the retailers. Took long enough.

I am shocked and appalled. That people are getting so worked up over this. Granted if that got into the hands of kids then that would be very damaging and morally worng. However from what the article said it takes a complex series of codes to unlock the minigame. So long as someone doesn't ACTIVATE it things should be ok. Now as for making it illegal to sell M games to minors that sounds good and bad at the same time.

Good becuase that way stuff that's too violent or questionable will be kept away,
Bad because then kids will want to play them even more and what if they have a parent that'd buy the game just to shut them up? Kind of defeats the whole purpose doesn't it?

Most parents are there anyway. It's not very often I see an 8 year old walk up and go "Can I have a copy of GTA pwease?". 13 year olds maybe, but by then they are old enough and already know anything that may be in this game.

If I have to show ID everytime I want to buy a game, I'm going to be annoyed. That's just me, though.

Gasp! You don't say! Something sex-related ina GTA game?!

Here's what I don't understand, and this is were I really get annoyed... There's sex in movies, yet government doesn't care, but when there's sex in a video game, they do. Now, I could see if this was a game geared toward children, like Mario or something, but it's not! The rating on the box clearly says MATURE 17+. Heh, but then again, like we've discussed several times here, age does not rflect maturity. It's the parents fault for letting their kid purchase this game, not the game company's. The parents should've taken the time to look over the game's material if they find it that offensive. Who cares, Clinton?! It's SEX. It's natural, no matter how you do it. Heck, if you find it that offensive, ban it all together.

Also, it is pretty much illegal NOW for game retailers to sell Mature-rated games to minors without a parent with them, just like with R-rated movies.

In my eyes, video games are just like movies, so they should be treated the same way. This is really a matter that pisses me off a lot.

Maybe Clinton just feels if less kids are exposed to game versions of sex they'll be less inclined to get fellatio from another woman they aren't married to.

Heh.

Violence: "Hello, I'm violence!"
Vulgarity: "Hi, I'm vulgarity!"
Violence: "It's ok for us to be together in games."
Vulgarity: "Yes, indeed it is."
Sex: "Hi, can I join you guys?"
Violence and Vulgarity: "STAY AWAY! WE CAN'T HAVE YOU NEAR US, OR SOMEONE WILL GET MAD!!!!!!!"

Is it Rockstar's fault that this content is accessible? Yes, and no. Obviously, they coded it and put it on the disc in the first place, but you also can't access it without hacking the game or using an AR. (Often, it's easier to just leave stuff like this on the disc and make it inaccessible, since removing an entire minigame could "break" something else.) So it's partially Rockstar's fault for leaving it on there, but it's more the modders' fault for making it accessible in the first place.

But we can't not place the blame on the users. Oh, no. That's precisely why that lady was able to sue McDonald's when she spilled coffee on herself...and win.

lmao

If that's true then I may have to leap off a bridge...onto another bridge.

Anyway it's the parents who are in the "wrong" here, if you let your children play an M-rated title well..that's not the developer's fault now is it?

Clinton is doing it for the wrong reasons. Not because its morally wrong, but because she wants it to help for her campaign. Thats why I hope noone votes for her. Because she's a bitch. Muahaha.

That McDonalds story IS true btw. She claimed there wasn't a warning label on the cup declaring it was hot. ...

I'll be voting for Hilary. Not because I like her, but because if she takes any guidance from Bill we should be in better shape. That and I'd prefer a Democrat back in office.

I think that's pretty stupid though, because it's going to make kids want the game even more ("I'm cooler than you because I can play AO games, b*tch!"). It should've just stayed Mature. Oh well, Hilary didn't realize this so it's obviously only part of my imagination.

I'm sure the ESRB is *loving* this... ordinarily, you'd have to declare all content within a video game, even if it wasn't available. Changing the rating is only procedure. It should have been rated as such to begin with by all rights.

Incidentally, there was something similar to this back when they instituted the rating system. It was a sega CD game where you shot pimps and freed the hookers or something like that.

Who found the hack, anyway?

Note: change the game so the mod doesn't work. Not: remove the thing entirely. Nits. Wouldn't be surprised if they released it to boost sales...

He's right. Movies with sex in them are rated at least PG13 thirteen people! I mean really children go on the internet and see sex by looking it up on Google!
