What did the original teaser lead you to believe?

When Rare released the original teaser trailer for Nuts & Bolts, the one without the vehicles, what from the trailer did you think would stay in the game?

I thought that Kazooie's key and chainsaw moves would be kept in, and that there would be a drawn world, where everything looks like it'd be drawn by pencil. Not necessarily right after I saw the trailer, I thought that LOG was going to be that pencil from the teaser trailer.

Perhaps the chainsaw sound was a reference to the fact you'd be building stuff in N&B.

I don't believe that, but whatever... there's a conspiracy theory for people.

My honest opinion is that at the time they weren't exactly sure where they were taking the game, but they wanted to showcase that the core mechanic of Banjo and Kazooie working together would be kept in tact. That's what it lead me to believe. "Platformer" wasn't the first thing that jumped into my head, I was just glad to see the Bear and Bird back and working together.

Sadly that element of the game is almost missing completely in N&B. Kazooie and Banjo don't really work together anymore. I mean, she has her wrench but she's nothing more than a useless prop most of the time.

Anyway, I think the trailer was made before any concrete decisions on gameplay had been made because it was clearly in the same vein as the previous titles.

I have the trailer in my signature...

They couldn't of had no idea at the point they made that trailer at, do you have any idea how long it takes to make a game? They obviously had some idea at that point. I remember an interview a little after the trailer was released where Gregg Mayles said that the next game would be something new, but it would still be Banjo.

Well, the trailer was more than two years before the games' release. But yes I guess they must've had some kinda idea, even if it wasn't vehicles.

IMO there are still reminants of the "planned game" in N&B. Like the tightrope walking. I bet ya that was meant to be one of the new moves in the game.

Yes, because Rare doesn't use Mario moves...

The most I got out of it was that kazooie was going to have a keyhole move...,But most of all I didn't think much of it,just as something showing banjo was back after 8 years.

I actually thought it all looked kind of suck-ish. I hated Banjo's new look, and the new "moves" seemed slow-ish.

How wrong I was. The vehicles overshadowed and destroyed any problems I had with the trailer.

I was expecting Banjo Kazooie HD. And for those of you that don't know, it takes a long time to make a game, and everything about the game is usually decided ahead of time, not just figured out as you go along.

It's confirmed this teaser was not made by Rare, and at the time of it's creation, the vehicle concept was probably already underway, who knows, maybe at that point they had planned to have the vehicles be a smaller part of the game, but the teaser did make it seem like they were going to make a true banjo platformer.

Not that i'm complaining, I like what we got.
