Why sit in the back?
This is something I've never been able to wrap my mind around. Why, at the theatre, do so many people want to sit far far away from the screen? For instance, one time, when I was meeting one of my friends at the theatre (for Cloverfield) all of her friends wanted to sit in the back, because they seemed to have this idea that if they sat near the front, they would have to bend their heads up to see the screen. As someone who goes to the movies every weekend, and always sits in the same row, I can safely say that I've never had to do that. Ever. The only circumstance under which you'd have to bend your head up to see the screen is if you sit in a seat down on floor level, which, at least at my theatre, is so ridiculously close....words can't even describe how stupid and impractical it would to sit there. But I digress.
So why is it that people actually want to sit in the back, rather than the front, where the view is so much better?

Because in the front the view is a blurry mess.

No it's not. It looks perfect. But way in the back, it's way too small.

Agreed. If you're not going to make use of its size, you might as well just wait for it to come out on DVD.

I always ask the same question. Working in a cinema I see people all the time sit in the back. In a cinema that can hold 400 people, each screening usually never has more than 20 people and there are people who will get there half an hour early to sit in the very back.
Makes no sense to me.

-Because they think its ''cool''
-They want to muck around and do what they want , like throw food at someone etc. They think it's safer than at the front where people can see what you are doing.

When you're with a girl, the reason is kind of obvious. No-one wants to see you making out and you don't want people to see you making out.

I sit in the middle, or a few rows down from the back. I guess its just the right size for my brain to wrap itself around, plus I have to wear glasses so everything is slightly magnified

You're all stupid. People like to sit in the back row because there's no one behind them talking for the entire movie. In fact, there's no one behind them at all, which is nice. You're close to the doors, probably the garbage, and you're not too close to the screen.

Because I get ridiculously peeved when I'm watching a movie and someone kicks the back of my seat.

I usually sit in the middle, if you sit too close you can see all the bluriness and grainyness of the movie, and in the back is just stupid.

I go to the back If I get the chance, it's facing the screen directly and it's in the middle. I suppose it is like the equivalent of typing, 'FIRST!' on youtube. The first ones in always go for the top middle seat.

So I can put my middle finger up on the projector when the credits roll?
Anyone else do this? ![]()
