I Won The Argos Battle!!!
A while ago, I bought an MP3 player called the Creative Zen X-Fi. I dropped this about 30-50cm from the carpet and the screen inside cracked. Since other people said that must have been faulty because they've dropped theirs on concrete and it's been fine, I went back for a replacement or refund.
First time, after waiting 9 days, they said it was accidental damage. This was without proof or evidence. They didn't open it up nor even turn the thing on. I was angered beyond belief at this, and over the past month i've been through an absolute battle with the shop called Argos. In the end, I contacted the Trading Standards Office and called Argos head office. From there, they contacted the people that deemed it accidental damage. They said it definately wasn't dropped on the floor (That shows how soft the drop was). And insist pressure was put on it (Which it hadn't). Nonetheless, the leader of Argos made the decision herself. She said that since it only lasted 6 days, the player must have had something wrong with it and under the circumstances, it must have been faulty. I have been offered a replacement, and i'm getting a check in the post in a few days. The moral of the story, if you've been ripped off, never stop fighting for it. I was rewarded in the end ![]() But damn, a month without my MP3 player was HELL. Just some advice, we weary of Creative players. They sound and look great, but they are as fragile as glass less than a millimetre thick. Also, only go to specialist shops. This is there discussion comes in. Have you ever been ripped off by a faulty item and had to fight and fight to get what you deserved? Paste it here!

I've had an iPod dilemna. Apple have this really annoying habit of making their products break just after your warranties expired and it then costs the same amount to fix as it would to buy a new one. Guess which I chose...
Also, you mentioned a battle against the evil that is Argos, good on you sir.

Jesus Jakers, you have some sturdy hardware O.O
iPods are sturdy but sound like crap. The audio quality was better in my Ł35 Samsung player. WAY Better.

I had the 120GB one, and I hated it with a passion. Sound quality wise.

My sister's old iPod, something went wrong with the touch wheel. She brought it to the store, they didn't carry that model anymore, so she got a new 8GB nano for free. Trade ups ROCK.

Getting my insurance company to cough up for my hospital stay in Minnesota was quite the battle of wills, they eventually relented 6 months after I'd been there.

I pre-ordered Mario 64 DS from Game. Went in day after launch, they told me to piss off and that it was first come first server.
Got a free game and some random crap out of it in the end. |

My iPod Touch recently stopped working, The screen would go black with a constant wheel turning and turning and turning...So I took it back to the store, they couldnt find out what was wrong with it and it was (luckily) still in warranty, eventually after poking and prodding me with questions, they gave me a new one
Apparently, I updated the ipod; It wasnt compatable with my 1st gen and it corrupted it...it was Apple's fault...not mine. |

in the end the two people running the store are now out of jobs for being such assholes. i still think you just got a faulty iPod. but hey you got what you wanted in the end. btw always get the warranty on anything like expensive headphones/earbuds and mp3 players because with a warranty you could literally go up and throw the player in there face and make them give you another one.
