Going To E3?

I remember a few years ago, E3 was only open to people working in the industry, and nobody else was permitted to see the show. Anybody know if this is still the case? If not, is there anybody here that plans on going? I'd LOVE to go but I can't afford a ticket to fly all the way down to LA (or wherever it is). If any of you guys are going, take a camera and try get some photos to share with the RWP.....Please and thank you

I'm pretty sure it still is only open to the press. Believe me, if it was open to the public, I'd go.

It's back in the Los Angeles Convention Centre, so I see no reason why it would be press only.

They've gone back to their roots again.

It's open to the public again starting this year.

I want to go, but if I actually will is still debatable.

Who knows, maybe I'll see a few of you there?

If I can get across the US, then maybe, but since I'm out of a job atm, most likely no.

As dylan said, it's ONLY open to the press. There is a follow-up event called E for Everyone that is open to the public and only has demos, not press events.

I'll see you there.

Also, it isn't about stuff getting leaked at E3 Banjo, that doesnt make any sense. E3 is publicly televised, as are its press events, they just don't want public there. On E3's website they list all announced news and videos. You wont miss a thing by not being there.

Ummm, what are you all talking about? It has been announced that E3 has been reopened to both buisness and public audience.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E3_2009
"E3 2009 aims to return E3 to its 'pre-E3 2007' state, by reopening it to a larger audience allowing more attendees. As well as having a larger venue and allowing more exhibitors. E3 2009 has also reverted its name to Electronic Entertainment Expo." - Wikipedia.

It says reopening it to a larger audience, which means more industry members, nowhere in there does it say public.

Also, the application to get a badge this year even says on it that you have to be a member of the industry. They are meerly opening it up to MORE members of the industry, not just the press. This includes owners of video game stores, and people greatly involved in the gaming industry.
