21st Century Breakdown

What do you guys think ? I picked it up last night, and I've only listened to a few songs here and there while doing stuff, I liked what I heard though, it seems like a continuation of the more mature route they took with American Idiot, I understand the whole fanbase split pre-american idiot, but what do other fans think ?

I've been listening to green day since I was a kid, always loved them, I loved American Idiot, and so far, I'm thinking I like this new album as well. It's got alot more slow stuff on it, which is different, but it's not bad.

It sounds very familiar [not to be confused with generic], specifically 21 Guns. I'm not entirely sure how to describe it, but it's definitely good.

I do have to say, Viva La Gloria reminded me alot of pre-american idiot (excluding the slow intro).

I really like how Green Day has managed to stay around this long, and modernize their sound with each new album, while some may argue that they have completely changed, I would have to disagree, and just say that they have really modernized themselves while retaining the basic song structures that made them so popular and catchy.

Viva La Gloria is an excellent example of that, I'm surprised this wasn't a single, yet Know Your Enemy was.

I've only listened to Know Your Enemy from the radio and such, and if the rest of the album is like that, then there's no way I will get it. KYE is so damn generic and repetative.

The rest of the album is actually a lot different than Know Your Enemy.

Also, I got it yesterday, and I love every single song (I also got a second disc with live American Idiot songs, which was also very good).

I felt the same way, like my previous post, Viva La Gloria should of been a single, not Know Your Enemy, it's essentially just filler.

Actually, Know Your Enemy came back up at the end of Restless Heart Syndrome, so I imagine it's probably relevant, but I'd have to do more analyzing.

East Jesus Nowhere was reasonably sufficient. Although I have only heard a couple of the songs featured on their new album, it is probably my favorite one as of now.

Having listened to the whole album now, I gotta say I really enjoyed it. It isn't as epic as American Idiot, but it's continuity is entertaining and several of the songs are really catchy, both renditions of Viva La Gloria are fantastic.

Oh God, you have no idea how sick I am of KYE. That ****ing song is the most annoying piece of shit EVAR. It has the most annoying lyrics, and every commercial plays the retarded chorus. I lost interest in Green Day years ago, after the genericness (word?) of American Idiot set in.
