Share your musical tastes!
What are your favourite bands? My top 5 are: Empyrium They're masters of the art. Their music is dark, majestic, and overall, beautiful. They made my favourite song in history and will always have a place in my heart. Recommended: The Ensemble of Silence, Lovers Grief Summoning They're based on JRR. Tolkiens work. Their music takes me miles away from this f-d up world, and makes me feel so powerful. No other band does that for me. Recommended: Land of the Dead, Long Lost to where no Pathway Goes God Is An Astronaut The sheer power and emotional in these guys sounds is unbelievable, and they do it without no lyrics at all. They always carry a powerful message and they're just amazing. Recommended: Fragile, Loss Agalloch They're trully masters of the art of progressive metal. Their musics meaning is unsurpassed in it's beauty and I love it so much. Just listen to these guys and you'll see what I mean. Recommended: Not Unlike The Waves, Limbs Moonsorrow They're the guys who got me into the underground metal scene. They do everything perfectly. Nothing in this music is "thrown in", everything works, and they're trully amazing at what they do. Recommended: Raunioilla, Jotunheim Your turn. Share any amount of bands here, it matters not!

I'm big into punk rock, I was in 2 punk bands, one in high school, named Bear!Monika (it was a cross between a bear and a harmonica), and the other named The Show Must Go Off.
We started making a cd called Nursery Rhymes of the Future, but never finished recording it.

Top 5?
Green Day Blur Nirvana The Stone Roses Queens Of The Stone Age To be honest as long as it isn't ridiculously overplayed/generic pop crap like Lady Gaga, I'll leave it on. EDIT: Looking at joesus's post I suppose I might as well throw in that I was also in a punk band. Unfortunately our drummer's friends were gigantic wannabe emo ***gots and decided that him being in a punk band was stupid. So they ****ed him over until he left. Muse has got to be my favourite band of all, all four albums have each got such memorable songs I just love them. Of course there's the odd song I don't like but they have so many great songs it outweighs it to no end. Plus each album has a slightly different feel to it which is a nice touch, apparently their fifth one coming out in September as far as I know is going to have more of an electronic sound which will be interesting, when combined with guitars it can sound brilliant.
I've been listening to a lot of Dresden Dolls recently and Amanda Palmer, they're still quite unknown and I've known about them for a few years but only started to properly get into them just now. It's quite hard to describe them I guess, the songs usually contain a lot of piano/drums and their genre is apparently a kind of 'dark carabret'. In a strange contrast I also like the Scissor Sisters, which I'm sure you've all heard. They just have a good beat to them which I can't ignore That and the Killers is my other favourite band, love The Killers but their songs tend to get a bit repetitive if played too much I think. |

Billy Talent (Thanks Jinjonator!)
Led Zeppelin (all of their albums on my iPod = awesome) Tenacious D Gryphon (an amazing midieval sounding band from the '70's, I have acquired them on vinyl) Scorpions (been to concerts before I was even born, if you can understand, If not, my mom went to concerts when she was pregnant with me which is why they remain my favorite band)

The Beatles
Pink Floyd Menomena The Decemberists Modest Mouse My overall top 5 are made up of some bands I've grown up with, like The Beatles and Pink Floyd, and stuff from last summer, where almost every day, I would go down to the record store and buy shit that turned out to be amazing. |

Ben Folds/Ben Folds Five and Reel Big Fish are the only two "major" bands I listen to and buy albums. Other than that, other favorites of mine include Higedriver, Streetlight Manifesto, and The Fratellis.
My primary listening these days is Ben Folds. Everything else is just now and then.

I bought an iPod touch a few weeks ago, and have been adding one band to it per week. Eventually I am going to run out of ideas for bands, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should throw on. Obviously, I know about larger bands like Guns N' Roses, Metallica, etc. I was thinking in terms of either smaller bands or non-American bands.
