ps3 and xbox360 getting casual

I'm not sure if there was a topic made earlier about this. But I decided to make one anyways. So e3 just showed us sony and microsofts motion controls, you can bet the systems are going to be way more casual. Esspecially microsoft, every single thing about microsofts controls are tons more attractive to casual gamers then the wiis contols. I mean, playing a video game with nothing but your body is cool! I think that once microsoft comes out with their controls, the xbox is going to be even more casual than nintendo, sony will probably be at the same casual degree as the wii, since they essentially copied nintendo. And, more casual gamers brings more shovelware. It may even be that in the near future, nintendo is going to be the biggest distributor to hardcores than the other two!

Just because Sony and Microsoft are adding motion controls doesn't mean developers are going to use them.

Other than Sony and Microsoft themselves I seriously doubt any other developer will develop games using the motion controls.

While Sony and Microsoft no doubt want to inch in on the casual market, the better question might be, will the casual crowd pick up on the 360 and the PS3?

If you see that Natal and Sony's motion control games selling like hot cakes, then you should be worried.

Natal will be expensive, might turn some people off-the motion controls contribute to the Wii's casual appeal, but you can't forget the pricetag. The PS3 is also a bit pricy.

I think the Wii will continue to dominate the casual market, they've established themselves as a bit of a cultural icon, it is cheaper, and it'll take a hell of a lot to change that.

But they just have to look at nintendo's success. And all the other third parties success that develop for them. The truth is, no game company cares what we think or want, they just care whatever sells. And guitar hero/rockband has already brought tons of casuals to the xbox 360, so microsoft already has a casual following ready to spring on "project natal" when it comes out.

I honestly couldn't care less. They didn't start off casual, so I don't think they're going to totally slip into being casual, maybe just have alot more casual games floating about the market.

I'm not worried.

There's far too many developers out there for us to worry about everything becoming casual.

Thats true, and what alot of people are forgetting is nintendo isn't all casual either. It still has hardcore games coming out for it, nintendo even announced that they are working on games specifically for hardcore gamers. I don't think that every single game is going to be casual in the near future, I'm just saying that there will be way more casual games, because microsoft and sony are undeniably going to be just as casual as nintendo. But there will still be developers producing hardcore games for hardcore gamers.

Their what? What is their's? It should be "I'd say they're going casual", short for "they are", not "belonging to them".

*On topic* There are hardcore and casual games. I'm a casual gamer anyway. I don't care. Seriously, guys, there are so many developers and consoles out there that every single genre is, and has always been, covered. Don't lose sleep over it

Third party success on the Wii? I wouldn't say that. Third parties are doing much better on the 360 and PS3. The only games that sell really well on the Wii are Nintendo games.

And even if a lot of developers do start making casual games, there will still be people like us who want deeper games and there will still be a market for those games.

Yes you're exactly right about that. Its what I'm trying to say. This is why nintendo still has a market for those games, despite popular "fanboy" belief, nintendo has not completely abandoned hardcore gamers.

Well, you probably don't care about this because you are a casual gamer. I mean, to care about something like this you have to of been gaming for years of your life (probably most your life). Seen how it changed over periods of time, experienced what games you like and don't, spent hours upon hours to reach your goal or complete a task. It really becomes part of your life, and then to see it become mediocre, and easy, is disheartening. I'm not trying to put the fact that you're a casual gamer down, but you have to look at it from the perspective from those of us who don't play games casually.
