Perhaps something happened to both accounts? Try checking your MSN and AIM accounts on msn.com and aim.com to see if they are still valid and running.
Didn't work? Ok..... Create a new, similar account on both sites and see if logging on works. This is good to test if it's just the account or your actual AIM/MSN. Didn't work? Ok..... Perhaps some glitch caused your AIM and MSN applications to become dead. Try re-downloading your MSN and AIM applications. The respective websites should have download links to all of their messenger's latest versions. Didn't work? Ok.... Say goodbye to AIM and MSN or get a new computer.

none of the above options work or are acceptable.
The scenario previous to all of this: i opened my computer to see what type of video card i have, and blew the dust off of shit, the comp froze on me, so i restarted it, it then told me like ... it cant detect any drives o.o then ir estarted computer and it all worked again except now my comptuer thinks its jan 1st 2002... and 1:52 am atm, as my computers been on for 1 hour and 52 minutes. this is very very frustrating to me, it does this everytime i turn it on and its loading with "Default settings" and since then i cant connect to aim or msn, but i CAN skype so i know its not a firewall issue, and i am posting this right now so its obviously not my internet.. its like ... idk >_< msn trouble shooter says something about my host file, but when i say no dont clean it that becomes a checkmark too and just says theres nothing wrong and i should be able to sign in; then cant. its very uncool, where are teh compyutar powrz of teh rwp? ice? grey? other hax0rs who know compy stuff? D: >_< |

Your firewall may be configured to permit Skype connections but to block AIM & MSN.

Huh? You don't know about me?
![]() You asked for Ice or Grey, but no CoolJosh3k. :oFor referenece, I am the guy whose been helping out a few people with the "4 years ITC/PC training". ![]() --- When you say "default settings", what part of the system are you refering to? Did you enter the BIOS at all? Did you change any settings? Your previous trouble is very unlikley to relate to the MSN and AIM difficulties, but it may. For MSN and AIM, can you supply the error message you get with each? This would be the first place to start. Just focus on your access trouble (MSN & AIM) for now. Either a copy of text or screenshot will do. --- In response to what Tooie posted; It is very doubtful that these 2 things would go down at the same time. There is a famous thoery, known as Occam's Razor.

i said etc, i dont know many names, another computerly inclined person is coolboyman, so dont take offense to it.
Anyways im on windows XP service pack 2.0 when i first turn it on, it asks if i want to go into bios or load with default settings, if i go into bios it says like primary device etc not found, and cant find one at all, its pretty lame. the error message on msn i get is 80048820 aim just plain goes "no u" |

Sounds like you have 2 different issues.
The BIOS related problem should not effect the MSN & AIM problem, so I shall start with working out the MSN & AIM problem. Also: about the "grey and ICe, but no CoolJosh3k" thing, I was just having a joke. Bit of a tease you could say. I will get back with some solutions or further diagnostics instructions soon. At least you can get on the RWP forums though, that is the most important site. ![]()

Hmm. It seems to be as I thought. (is that a good thing or a bad thing?).
MSN uses the BIOS clock for reference. Most Microsoft products do. The AIM error is likely to have the same cause. Whilst in Windows XP, what does the date and time say? It should be in the bottom right-hand corner by default.

Alright. We are getting somewhere now.
Try rebooting back into BIOS and change the date in the settings. If you need help with BIOS just say, but you sound like you've been there before. Plus changing the date should be easy to do. After you do this, save the settings and boot up Windows agian. Now check the date again. If it still says "Jan 1st 2002", then you have a bad CMOS, a short across CMOS holder or the CMOS is loose. Double check that you saved settings before exiting the BIOS. If this is the result, I can help assist you further, but it isn't a good sign. If is says the new date you entered, then you should be good to go.

I am. I had this problem with msn a few weeks ago. It came up with an error whenever I tried to connect. The date was set to early 2000..
Seriously, did you try How about a reinstall of msn?

Whoops. I took to long to type.
If you change the date in XP it may also change it in the BIOS, but it depends on your MotherBoard and some of the other BIOS settings (like ACPI). It is best to change it in BIOS directly.
