Hot damn, I love this game so far. It's heavy metal and full of action, the art is totally reminiscent of Psychonauts, and (I think the best part) It's got this whole "Zelda" feel. I mean, using the solos is a lot like using the Ocarina in OoT. After the demo, Ophilia gets injured doing something stupid and you have to go to "The Killmaster" who can play bass so well, he can heal the wounded and it just goes uphill from there. Eddie's facial reactions to things can cause me to literally lol. If you like video games, you owe it to yourself to play Brutal Legend. It's seriously amazing. I'm feeling game of the year. I'm gonna go play some more now.

Wow, what an obvious sales pitch.
Seriously, I'm looking forward to it so much.

Everyone seems to talk about the art direction, humor, Jack Black, how it's like Psychonauts, etc. However, I haven't seen one person actually discuss how the game plays. The demo has failed to download three times on my Xbox, so I'll ask you, how is the game itself?

Oh, right. The gameplay is crazy solid. It's some strange kind of action game/RTS hybrid, but it works. Very well. During most missions, you are Eddie armed with the Separator and Clementine, slicing and guitaring anything that stands in your way. Then there are the stage missions. See, in the "real" world, the guitar simply made sounds and rockshows were just entertainment. In this one. The guitar is a weapon and "Battle of the Bands" means literally "Battle of the Bands." This is where you tell the engineer who you want to be in your "Band" at the time and go out on stage, meaning go into battle. So far, I've got Headbangers which are standard foot soldiers, Razorgirls who are longranged explosive users, and Bassists, who are healers...on choppers. You tell the engineer who you want to spawn and you tell them where to go using 3 basic commands: Follow, Charge, and Defend. All the while, you can jump down into the battle yourself and kick your own brand of major ass. I don't even like RTS's, but the first battle was bloody brilliant. Controls are tight, even in the Druid Plow (hot rod) and the landscape is fun and easy to explore. Is that good, Andre?

How is that by the way? It's the game that makes me want a PS3.

Considering he's been playing it all day, seemingly only getting off to eat, is a good sign that it's a good game. |

Yeah, well, I got really nasty sick yesterday, and called in sick to work today, so being sick, and having nothing better to do, I sat all day and played Uncharted 2. And yeah, it's pretty great honestly, I think this is far more of the "killer app" for the ps3 then MGS4 is. I got my ps3 for MGS4, ended up being really underwhelmed about it, then got LittleBigPlanet, and let my ps3 collect dust for a long time. Uncharted 2 is the Gears of War for ps3, its not the game you bought a ps3 for, but it's the biggest surprise reason you were happy you owned a ps3 when it came out. Yeah, it's a lot of fun, the story is really cinematic, the animation, body language, and voice acting is top notch, and like Mebecj has noticed, I haven't been able to put it down, I've gotten off to eat, throw up, and that's about it. I still really really want Brutal Legend though.

If you don't play Brutal Legend you'll be guaranteed to go to heaven, because you won't be badass enough to go to hell.
I seriously have not had this much fun in awhile [I've only made it to the tour bus part]. I can't get over how awesome it feels when you charge into battle leading your army, and the moves and such you can unlock are all great. I also like the ride-able animals, sometimes I'll ignore the incredibly fun to drive Deuce to experiment riding on some animal.
