David Wise, Grant Kirkhope, AND Robin Beanland Doing a DKC2 OverClocked Remix!
So OverClocked ReMix is doing a remix album for Donkey Kong Country 2, which hopefully should be out by the end of the year. The directors of the project kept alluding to a "secret" about the album's remix of "Donkey Kong Rescued" (credits theme) that would completely blow us away. They weren't kidding.
It was revealed today that none other than original composer David Wise will be remixing the track, along with Grant Kirkhope on guitar and Robin Beanland on trumpet! I was already super excited for this album, but now my hype has gone up a hundred times more! Link to project thread Some songs from the forthcoming album: Final Version of the "Crocodile Cacophony" remix (Monkeys Disarm Your Kremlings) WIP of the "Mining Melancholy" remix (Trapped in the Mines) WIP of the "Cranky's Conga" remix (Party's Over Here) Last edited by Kain Horward; 29th October 2009 at 07:33 PM. |

Wait, so this will be a comercially available album, not a throwaway Internet thing?
Well, I'm quite excited now, sire. DKC2 is my favorite video game of all time.

WOW haha I had forgotten about this project. Strange, I loved Kong in Concert, you'd think I'd remember that DKC2 is having one of these projects done.
That is ****ing awesome news, I posted it on the front page simply because of how great it is haha. Thanks for posting this thread. |

Oh god, I just told my brother about this, and now he's over-hyped about this, which in turn makes me over-hyped too
I'm over-hyped

This is awesome and stuff, but why would Gregg work on this? I mean, he left Rare..

You mean Grant right? Why not? This is an unofficial fan remix project, and he's still known mainly for his work at Rare.

Back in my day (after we finished Kong in Concert), all we got was praise for the project from Dave via e-mail. The kids on this project are spoiled.
I submitted a WIP for Crocodile Cacophony when this was first announced. The project lead asked to hear more (it was VERY WIP), but since I couldn't get my idea to go anywhere, we let it go. It wouldn't have worked, anyway, because it didn't have guitar or vocals, two things that OCR apparently discovered in the past few years. Oh, and "Party's Over Here" is good. The other two...aren't my thing.

Am I right?
From listening to the 13-minute preview track (which for the life of me I can't find anywhere now, and the original link is broken) it sounds like a lot of the remixes have vocals. Crocodile Cacophony and Mining Melancholy (obv.), Hot-Head Bop, Run, Rambi Run!, In a Snow-Bound Land...it's a very vocal-heavy album, to be sure. I don't really mind vocals though. And I forgot you did a remix for Kong in Concert! I loved One Zero One |

I do enjoy OCR's albums. My favorite is possibly the IceCap April Fool's one.
Looking forward to this.
