The Legend Of Zelda...Without Link???
I just read this interesting article, and it got me thinking, Would a Zelda game without Link be so bad?
Really, think about it. Link is hardly ever the same person between games and he doesn't have the same connection as Mario and Samus, in that we've seen this character develop over the years. If a new Zelda game was released with a silent protagonist, who you could name whatever you want and with a different outfit. Pretty quickly, there wouldn't be any real difference between Link and the new guy and it allows the series considerable more storytelling depth, yet doesn't distract from the whole "Link IS the player and you fill in the blanks" aspect that the protagonist has had all these years. I've rabbited on for a bit, so I ask you the question Would you play a Zelda game without Link?

I would.
It's still Zelda.

I'd still play it, especially if it meant that the player character would meet Link as a NPC.

Absolutely. It'd be odd playing a Zelda title without the flagship hero, but I'd play it.

I think it could definitely work.

If it played the same, yeah. I don't mind the characters as long as the gameplay is fluent enough.

Project Deluge is my dream game. I would cut 50 years off of my life expectancy to play that game, and I'm not even joking.

This, except for the cutting 50 years from my life thing.

I would, but first I would spend 16 hours sobbing into a pillow while clutching a gold copy of the NES game.

I think it would be an awesome idea if Link was the bad guy. Maybe after he saved Termina he went insane and started killing people, including all of the Gerudos. You'd try and find him, meeting people from Majora's mask and Ocarina. At the end, you'd find out you were Ganondorf reincarnated.

I guess it would be cool if someone killed Link and they gained the Triforce of Courage. It would be a nice twist in the generic plot of LOZ.

We have, twice. Though they both were horrendous.
