So yeah, i've been thinkin'. What the f**k is up with Waluigi? Why hasn't he gotten his own game? Is he related to Wario or Mario? Why does he only appear in spinoffs? The SM64 DS rumor?

So many questions, so little time... let's talk about Waluigi.

Zondekel is going to kill me, but I think Waluigi is the weakest of the Mario characters. He's got no reason to exist other than to pad the roster in the sports spin-offs, and his design ain't easy on the eyes, either. I guess if he got his own spin-off, I'd be OK with that, but I don't want him to infiltrate the main canon, and if he were to gradually be phased out, that'd be just fine by me.

1 Not as well known as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Wario, ect.

2 Just like Wario is to Mario, he is the opposite of Luigi. Their relationship is unclear though. Some people say cousin, some say twin/brother and some say close friends.
I, personally, think they're brothers. The Wario Bros. to be precise.

3 He makes a good partner to Wario and a good Speed character.
It is confirmed Waluigi is not in Mario 64 DS.
What is not solved is the Black Box rumor.

I dig Waluigi. It'd be neat to see him in his own sort of game; what genre is really the odd part. I see him starring in more of a spy-like game than a platformer, tbh, perhaps due to his lanky figure.

What games could Waluigi star in 'sides platformers?

Look- I admit, the actual creation of Waluigi was pretty lazy- making another Wario like character just to go with Luigi. However, it's the actual personality, the character himself, that appeals to me. He's funny. He's there in opening sequences with Wario, just going on and being evil, but in a comical sort of way. When he saw Luigi's picture on the tennis tournament board, he quickly dug out a marker and started drawing on it. Or when he and Wario were training for the tennis tournament (in the blooper reel, anyway), and Bowser got electrocuted, "Don't expect mouth-to-mouth!" he laughed. Or when in Mario Baseball when he's sliding into home plate in the opening scene, he slides right up to it, and stops before touching it. His quotes alone are funny- I play Mario Kart Wii as him just to hear anything new that I might have missed. Charles Martinet describes him as a character that thinks everything goes right for everyone else, but Waluigi gets nothing, and this shows up in his various quotes. Claiming people win just by cheating, or how he's going to get them next time, or just his arrogance... he's just a really funny character. Both he and Wario really appeal to me because, unlike the Mario Bros., they actually give these characters personalities.

...And I don't understand what's wrong with his appearance. I admit that, if they were trying to make another Wario, they should have done things like made his buttons white, the upside-down L be larger than the white space on his cap, and have a white line around the rim of the visor part of the cap, but overall, I like his appearance. Purple and... black / dark purple depending on the game. It certainly doesn't follow any color pattern like the other three, but I like it.
...and he has a great 'stache. I like Wario's better because it's just crazy with it being all spiked and whatnot, but Waluigi's is just, like, the mustache of a typical classic TV villain or something.

Wario is just Mario with the 'M' turned upside down. If anything, Waluigi should be called Ruigi, but then we get into the whole stereotypical view that the Japanese cannot pronounce 'r's.

He's basically a redundant character, the appendix of the Mario world.

His name makes more sense in Japan, anyway... I admit, it's certainly an... interesting name... but in Japan, it's a) a way of saying Bad Luigi because of the "wa" part of it, and b) if I remember correctly, it's an anagram for "someone who does bad things," ...I think.... it is an anagram of something, anyway...
And I personally like the name Waluigi...

Oh, and on an interesting note, in Japanese, Luigi is Ruiji.. so calling Waluigi "Ruigi" wouldn't really work...

I miss the "Wario Bros. Scheme" Intro and Blooper Reel from the sports games. I was so disappointed when Mario Super Sluggers came out, bu at least it had a badass "Ending Credits" Theme. From what I heard, Waluigi wasn't very popular until Mario Strikers came out. Could you blame them?

Waluigi is my favorite fictional character ever from any game, any series. Of course I'd join in this thread. And I'm well aware I have no life, thank you. I have a Waluigi costume, and can do his voice pretty well- I know I have no life, thank you for telling me something I already know. Thank you.
