Do you believe people can change?
Including yourself.
From worse to better. Explain your reasoning.

Yes, they certainly can, and I know from firsthand experience.

Yes, because they can.

I think it depends on the willingness to change of the person.

Well if I have to explain my reasoning, I'd have to say that I'm not ignoring basic principles of the universe and socialization. If people never change, then we'd all still have the mentality of babies.
I don't see why you would suddenly grow and mature your personality to certain point and then it just stopping magically. Even if we stop having biological influences after a while, our experiences with others will always shape our views of the world. The thing about this line of thinking is that we're not always aware of how we change. Sometimes it's so gradual that you don't notice. Last edited by Avarice; 28th September 2010 at 12:00 AM. |

Nope.
Reason: Genetics.

That's foolish. Your environment changes you too.
Genetics has a huge impact, yes, but the kind of person you will be isn't determined solely from conception. Last edited by Avarice; 28th September 2010 at 12:12 AM. |

Genetics, the environment, people. Main causes of both physical and mental change.

No, people don't change. If anything, you're just experiencing different sides of someone. That doesn't mean that they've changed.

Two years ago I was for the death penalty. Now I'm against it.
Are you honestly going to tell me that isn't a change? Was I only pretending to be for it or something? Last edited by Avarice; 28th September 2010 at 12:26 AM. |

I'm sorry, but we must be talking about two different types of change. I was talking about someones change in their personality. You're just talking about opinions that you changed your mind about. That's like saying "Yeah, people can change. Just look at my hair, it grows. That's change."

What is a personality but our collective opinions and views of the world combined with out biological impulses, feelings, and desires?
Opinions are a part of what makes us up. Going from thinking one deserves death to believing otherwise isn't something that changes on a whim. Last edited by Avarice; 28th September 2010 at 12:38 AM. |

I guess so, maybe I just haven't been around long enough to notice a major change in someone.
Actually, i was once a Christian, but now I'm an Atheist. I guess that's change. |
