A "what if" scenario

So, speaking hypothetically here; Let's say Kinect flops as we all suspect (even though Oprah is suddenly Microsoft's PR cashcow) and Rare is dissolved as a studio. What would happen to all of Rares I.P's?

If Microsoft were smart, they would give the I.P's to another developer to work on. Of course they'd still be Xbox exclusives, but its more progress then Rare are currently making.

Discuss the faint chance of this occurring, and which I.P you'd like to go where.

Banjo-Kazooie to Naughty Dog or Insomniac Studios.Especially Naughty Dog's first Jak and Daxter was just as good as Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie.

Every single one to Capcom except Perfect Dark, which should be sold to whatever company it is that owns the rights to Timesplitters now.

My exact sentiments. If Rare were, I dunno, SMART, they would get rid of this Kinect bullshit and make games for their original franchises. If they're REALLY trying to appeal to families/ younger audiences, look at Mario, Sonic, Pokemon, Mega Man, etc.

Crytek saved their franchises, so technically, they're still live and kicking.

Have they made a game recently that matches up to their old quality?

I think it's financially smart that Rare stepped away from their old franchises and went with the casual games. IMO, it would have been utterly stupid of them (financially, of course) to try and make money off of us some more.

If Kinect fails...
Hopefully Rare goes back to the original days and makes sequels to BK, Conker, ect.

Not just us-- there's a whole new generation of gamers that can be introduced to Rare's franchises. Think about it, their originals can be a hit with families. Banjo for the kids and young adults, Conker for adults, JFG and Perfect Dark for teens and I guess you can say Viva Pinata for the whole family.

I don't think any of the games would be the same without Rare. But maybe I'm wrong.

I just don't think if Rare went back to their old franchises, that it would work out as well as you guys make it out to be.

Does Rare not see Mario as successful? It appeals to younger audiences and sells very well.

Banjo Kazooie uses the same formula as Mario, and it leads me to believe that a proper Banjo game could have potential if it remained true to the original formula. Banjo was on par with Mario 64, that's no secret, and a polished epic Banjo Kazooie game would be on par with Mario Galaxy. It would be like the 360's Mario Galaxy and I believe Mircosoft are a bunch of retards for not taking that golden opportunity.
