Sonic Generations Demo 1

The (supposedly) first demo for Sonic Generations is available on Xbox Live Marketplace and PSN for a limited time, and showcases Classic Sonic's Green Hill Zone.

I for one loved it,Green Hill and Genesis Sonic never looked better, but there are a few minor technical problems that really need to be worked out, thankfully the game is still a whole 4-6 months to release.

By "Demo 1" i mean that since these demos have time limits and (from what I've seen) are practically open betas/sneak previews, I feel that we'll be seeing different demos in the near future after this one.

Go download it and post your thoughts about it here!

You're a little late... as in, by 10 days. I've already played the hell out of it. Note to speedrunners: Hold X for half a second whenever a spindash wears off or you land from a jump. You know you want to...

It's already been hacked to bits over at Retro. S3 shields have been confirmed .

I honestly couldn't keep track of Sonic half the time I was playing. Same thing happened with me in the Sonic Fan Remix game. There's just too much in the foreground to really be able to focus on Sonic, especially since they actually make him go much faster than on the Genesis games (and the blur effect doesn't help). I'll probably still buy the game in the end, but it's going to be difficult for me.

There is one part of that level were you can glitch through the floor, or glitch the camera into a buggy 3D mode.

You might have seen the thread about general issues with the demo at Retro too, Zeek,

Yeah, the level was way too cluttered, so it was hard to really see anything. That, and I wish the demo would've been longer. Other than that, it was pretty good. Might give it a rent.

The main problem I have with new sonic games, or even certain ones in general, you just hold right and spin dash to win... You don't even really SEE Sonic in this demo, you just see the screen whizzing by as you basically do nothing. Sure, you could go slow, and find secret areas, but there's really no point if you can make it to the end of the level with 90+ rings and never get hurt once .

Wasn't that how Genesis Sonic was? I have fond memories of Sonic 1,2,and 3...and I only remember having to ACTUALLY platform in the later levels.

But he was slower, and you at least could see slightly what was coming up ahead, and you actually had to take your time in some of the levels instead of just running straight through everything .

Eh, for the first level, I didn't think it was that bad. There were definitely parts where you had to slow down and do more platforming and I would assume later levels would have more parts like that. Even then, speeding through levels in the first level of the Genesis games was certainly possible, except for maybe Mushroom Hill Zone.

It was certainly possible, but if you weren't careful and didn't already know the levels, you would surely get hurt from either spikes or a seemingly random enemy. My first play of the demo, I just ran, didn't bother to stop, and didn't get hurt once :C.

But anyways, it certain has much better control/game play than Sonic 4 .

Makes me want to improve my abysmal time I got on the demo .
