BTHive
Does anyone remember this fansite? It has been closed for a long time, I was wondering if any of you had an account there.
This site is where Mombi Jombo came from, btw. I remember that the admin, Mike, banned him for some days - you know the reason. |

I do- I have some of the remixes people put up on the site, and in the tags, they're labeled as coming from the site.
Every now and again, I check to see if it's up again. Never is, of course...

BTHive... That's an old name. Didn't they turn into a site named Koopa Village or something like that?

Heard of the name, yes. Think I saw the site before it went down.

Erm... I'm pretty sure Koopa Village came first, actually... I could be wrong, but...

Mike made his first bold venture into the world of webs by setting up BTHive... not quite sure when, but it was little while before Banjo-Tooie was released. Late 2000-ish, I'd wager, considering it came out here the next year. I honestly can't get my head around how long ago that was, and yet how recent it feels! Frickin' time, man, I tell you. It had loads of awesome hand-drawn comics, humourous articles, MIDI-based recreations of music from the games, and FAQs answered by the lovably appalling Super Banjio & Kazzigi. =P A few years later, he set up Koopa Village - which was an understandably Mario-centric affair with (if I'm remembering correctly) Dr. Fruitcake, Banjie, Ice Mikau and others occasionally adding content alongside Mike's own. Eventually it closed, but much of its forums' userbase migrated to the Good Doctor Fruitcake's personal website; FCMIDI. Then, a good bit later, but still a while before Banjo-Kazooie: Bits 'n' Bobs was unveiled, he set up a shiny new version of BTHive - with the "T" denoting "Trilogy" this time! In more recent years, Mike's been preoccupied with the full-time joy of being a ninja. He makes amazing kung-fu movies, writes and illustrates his comic Chaff City, drinks coffee and is generally a rad sort of dude. It's all true!

He's the spiky-haired, suit-wearing, arse-kicking, titular spy.

So where, or rather, when, does BFBA fit into this?
(No, I'm not saying BFBA was part of BTHive, I'm just asking since, well, you're Banjo-Fella)

Oh my God, I can't believe it's been three friggin' years since I used this forum O.O (The link to Chaff City made this thread show up on my site's referral stats...)
I'm flattered that you guys remember Hive and Koopa Village, and Banjo-Fella's potted history is completely accurate - the original incarnation of BT Hive surfaced in September 2000. To be honest, even I'd completely forgotten about Super Banjio and Kazzigi! B-F, you are a total scholar of the Hive ![]() Zondekel, it's awesome that you still check every so often to see if the site is back up. It flips my wig that someone would care enough to do that. Now I feel like a let-down XD But I should say that as much as I love Banjo, I think the Hive has definitely run its course - this became very apparant after I resurrected it as 'Trilogy Hive'. That being said, I still have a great deal of the files from both versions of the site and I'm sure I can hook you guys up with any of the content you may be missing. But the site will almost certainly not be returning. I no longer have a strong interest in videogames and life these days is mostly about trying to carve out an illustration career for myself. Hence the comics.Funnily enough I never actually got around to doing my final BT Hive swan song - I spent about six months researching Stop N' Swop in insane detail and came up with what I believe was the most complete technical explanation at the time of how the whole thing would work. For some reason I don't believe I ever posted it. I'm sure the days when anybody gave a crap about Stop N' Swop are long gone, huh? And I'm sure that in the years gone past somebody else probably beat me to the punch. But, yeah. I kind of worked out the secret to Stop N' Swop, and then took it with me to my BT Hive grave XD |

You could post it somewhere just to remember the old times, idk.Anyway, BTHive was cool. It is a shame that you had to close it. |

MikeHive did posted years ago that he think that SNS was cancelled by other reason than update of N64's memory. He never revealed what it would be.
