Why Do We Complain About Rare So Often?

I mean, it seems like someone is always saying something negative about Rare rather than contributing. When I join a community, we usually talk about how to improve it and what we stand for. Not hate on where it is now.

Granted there is only so much we can do, one thing we could go without is whining.

Some of you are Devs who I wont criticize, because you are actually doing something right now. But some people come here for what seems solely based on band wagoning. ex - "Rare is dead to me" and so forth.

I wish we could support those who are working on Beta Restorations, or learn more about those Dev Cartidges before the topic fades into the distance. But to give suggestions on that requires a bit of respect and online rep, meaning while I wish I could ask questions and give suggestions, I cannot. But if you wanna call me some kind of hypocrite for not, then be my guest.

There it is, I know I will get flamed or bashed or locked, etc. This has been a bad start for me if this isnt how the community usually is

This is a forum designed for expressing opinions. Whether it was originally created as a place to praise Rare (it was, but there was complaining back then to, just like any other forum) is irrelevant. We can not do anything to help the Rare community because frankly, it doesn't even really exist anymore. There are those people who think everything Rare does is great, but most of them have long since learned that this is not the place for them.

People feel better when they can join with other people to complain about what they once loved turning to crap. There was a time when hope helped, but when the company turned to hopeless, the fans turned against the company. In a lot of ways there is still passion about Rare, it is just negative. The only people who really complain about Rare are those who were major fans to begin with, and I think for that reason alone there is nothing wrong with that. When the company does something praise worthy, we will praise it.

A lot of folks around here are really bitter and disheartened by Rare's new direction, and any new piece of news detailing Rare's current direction will be met with negative threads and bitching.

If you came here expecting a forum that glorifies Rare regardless of what they do, you're in the wrong place. Most of us prefer pre-Microsoft era Rare, or at least pre-Kinect Rare.

But really, people come for Rare and stay for the community. We're not a bad lot once you settle in, and I think you will just fine.

I dont think they always deserve praise, but I never see superb critique. Always just "Rare sucks" or the restating of one idea throughout an entire post and believe it is a panacea for the situation. I dont truly love where Rare is at the moment and I am merely playing the devil's advocate, which is needed here.

I dont remember the wii or move having really good games for a while... there were exceptions, but the Kinect has those exceptions, too

Better is subjective. The people who complain are not interested in motion controls or in general the direction rare is heading as a company. Why should they praise them for it? The company is doing better now then it has been in years; it doesn't mean I have to praise them if I don't like the direction they are heading in. I can acknowledge that they are doing better if that's what you want. But I am not going to just accept the changes they have made.

You read my post, find something that you can justify as me trying to insult you, and base your entire rebuttal around it, without addressing any of points I made, regardless of their logic. Honestly, I don't hate games such as Kameo, Dark Zero, Live & Reloaded, Viva Pinata and Nuts & Bolts, and I really enjoyed them. I love even Ghoulies. However, all I waited through the years (a Banjo-Kazooie platform) never came out. Yeah, I enjoyed Nuts & Bolts, but it's not what we wanted.
Of course I hate kinect, because if I wanted to do sports I'd go out, and everyone is able to do sports, that's why I hate them. A kid, even if he is one year old can go out and kick a ball just to have the glory (something that I never cared about) of other people. However, only intelligent and able people can read books and play videogames. Mens sana in corpore sana, maybe it's true, (in latin it means safe mind in safe body), but I prefer to be an intellectual guy rather than a sport man.
Kinect doesn't have what old Rare games had, such as good and original music (ks soundtrack really sucks, they even use that shitty "hello" song, their next game will probably use justin bieber's "music"), original plot (no plot here), original characters (stupid avatars or miis or whatever they are), and all you do is something you do in your real life. I don't want to spend euros in videogames just to do what I normally do. I buy videogames because I can do something I couldn't normally do (before someone tells me, I'm not going to look for Jiggies outside).

We probably wont see those games for a while if ever again; we need to stop holding our breath.

What about rainy days? Or kids who have no neighbors? Those who are disabled? Or those who want to play against some star for a community session (as if microsoft would schedule one...)? Or for friends who are distant? It may not apply to most of us here, but there are tons of people buying this for multiple reasons. While you do not like it, you dont have to support people who complain and voice that which is voiced before. (if you do) As they will just do it again so people raise their opinion of them or whatever they think will happen. I understood where you were coming from months ago then I decided it isnt going to die because we hate it. and you forgot to mention how some of Rare's characters pretend interact with the coders IRT, or know they are in a game, etc I LOVE that apect.

You can not tell me what to talk about on a public forum. If the complaining bothers you then that's to bad. Rare are big boys. They don't need you defending them.

The really was meant to make it a general term. Regardless, if I say the only people who complain are people who loved pre Microsoft Rare, how does that mean that since you aren't complaining that you aren't a Rare fan? You are making no sense.

If you are disabled, you still can't play kinect. If it rains, you survive a day without sports. I don't have neighbors and I perfectly live happy; I still have many friends. If friends are distant, you have to pay to play online as gold.

This means that, the complaints about Rare come from the old school fans who have been with it since pre-connect. Nowhere in this sentence do I say that "if you do not complain about Rare you are not hardcore oldschool Rare fan". I am not even saying that ALL old school Rare fans complain about Rare. It isn't that difficult to understand. You are still focusing on the fact that you think I insulted you, and I'm telling you it is completely misguided and irrelevant to our actual conversation.
