What would you do?
Last night at 4 AM I shut all the lights off in my house before going to bed.
At around 5:30 AM I noticed the light on in the living room; and went to check it out. My brother was taking the magic the gathering cards I had remaining (my sliver collection, and the remaining swamp lands I had left over) after my cards were stolen, I kept them for sentimental value (not to mention they were worth ~300$). So, I walked in, asked him what he was doing, he said he couldn't sleep and was just trying to kill time for 2 hours before school so he was emptying the pages to make room for our yugioh card collection, seemed legit, but still; I grabbed my slivers and put them in my room in a box on a shelf. I then went to bed. This afternoon when I woke up, the box had the lid taken off, and the cards not inside; my brother had taken them to school. I texted him saying where are my slivers? No answer. He comes home from school today, and can't tell me where a single card is. Tl;dr my brother stole 300$ worth of my belongings, and sold them for drug money, spent that money, got high tonight, and has simply gone to bed as if nothing happened. So RWP, what would you do? |

Punch him hard. Then have a really serious talk about stealing and drugs. Seriously if he did that to get drugs it could be a serious matter.

Look, drugs might be really important to him, and I'm not going to be all judgmental and "DRUGS ARE BAD" and stuff but get this through his head: there are things in life that matter more than any temporary physical or mental high, and one of those is the trust of the people closest to you, like a brother. If he could do it to you, he could do it to his friends, a significant other, or anyone - and if he destroys that trust, he will regret it later.

There's also the part where this is like the 4th time something like this has happened. The first time was because he was getting addicted to cigarettes, so he stole a ring from me that my grandfather had passed down to me. The second time he stole a note book from my room so he could burn it and inhale the smoke, and the third time he stole more of my collectibles to sell. These are just the ones I know about.
He's 18 for anyone curious. |

Tell your parents. If they don't do anything or don't believe you, call the cops.
Or make him share his drugs. $300 buys a lot of anything.

Dan is very anti-drug, so he wouldn't ask his brother to share. Give him a deadline to either return the cards or their value in cash. If he does not reach this deadline, either snitch or sell something of his.

Call cops; have him arrested
. That's what I would do.But it sounds like your brother needs some actual help :C.

Like I said, why aren't the cops involved? Why protect him if he's blatantly stealing your shit? Sounds like he needs help if he can't contain himself and he "needs" to get high so badly he has to steal your things to do it. I'm all for weed (I assume he is smoking yes?) but it's all about using it responsibly, which by the way it sounds, he is not doing.

Talk to him about it. If he doesn't stop now, this could become a problem.

Take his weed stash, and poison it.

First, release your aggression over this - punch him, scream at him, or break something of his maybe. But I still think that afterward you need to talk to him, this sounds like a very serious problem he has. Especially if this is the 4th time its happened.
