Total Annihilation 2 - Trailer
I'm not sure how popular PC games are on this thread but I figured it's worth a post to at least find out...
Anyways anyone ever play a little 1995 RTS known as Total Annihilation? It was game of the year and, in my opinion, the greatest PC game ever made... Add two warring armys, The Arm and The Core, set thousands of years into the future, just a pinch of interesting story and BAM! you've got Total Annihilation... You see there was a conflict - such as abortion that just exploded beyond anything... The conflict...Immortality... The Human race discovered the technology to transfer human consicness (spelled that wrong) from Flesh to Machine... The Core decided to "share" this knowledge... The Arm, resisting, declared war on the forceful nature of the Core... Thousands of years later... Still war... It's a pretty awesome game - each side has literally one hundred plus units to create and deploy - and for a long time had downloadable units, which are still accessible via their original website... Meanwhile the company that made this, Cavedog Entertainment, was swooped up and purchased by a small corporation known as Infogrames (Now they have returned to their original name Atari). And knowing Atari did what they always did... Shut down Cavedog... Telling the public for YEARS that Total Annihilation 2 would be thrown into production soon and will be out quickly... ... ten years pass... Chris Taylor, inventor of the TA universe, being fed up with Atari's empty promisesm, founded a new gaming enterprise known as Gas Powered Games and quickly and extremely quietly created a gaming franchise Supreme Commander - the Spiritual Successor of Total Annihilation... But as Atari still owns rights to everything Cavedog owned he had to call it something new and build his new world completly from scratch... None of the 200+ units from TA could come into this world... And the Three new armies would have to have completly new units... What he has made is astounding... After watching this trailer I found myself shaking... ... It is incedible... ...Freakin' sweet looks alot better then Mech commander 2. And I loved that game.
