Pixel is finally considering making a Cave Story sequel

Okay, so this interview is close to a year old, but I only recently discovered this news. Here's the quote from him on the subject:

"The original Cave Story took me five years to create, and the testers that were playing the game, they wanted to have something even more difficult than the original stages. So I created the Hell stage, and put so much effort into it that I basically said, “all right, this is the grand finale for Cave Story for now.” And then I wanted to create a few other games on the side, which I was able to in the past few years. So I’m satisfied with that. It’s now been 10 years since the original Cave Story came out, so I’m now thinking that maybe it’s time to start thinking about a sequel for Cave Story. There’s a very, very good chance we’ll see a sequel."

Personally, I think this news is very exciting. It's cool to see that he's actually considering it now. I don't think Cave Story necessarily NEEDS a sequel, but it would be great to play more Cave Story if it was handled right and the story is just as good as the first. I actually think a prequel would work even better, but that's just me. I actually remember hearing a rumor that he would make an entirely new main character for the sequel, but we'll see.

So I ask you, fellow Cave Story fans: how do you feel about this? Do you think it should happen?

A prequel would be better, (where I'd get to be Arthur!). But any game that Mr. Amaya makes is insanely good. I'll buy it on the first day!

I'm very much ok with this. A prequel would work pretty well, since there's a ton of back story he could expand upon.
