The EU should throw Greece out

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-05-1...s-fail/4013482

Quote:
Greece will have to hold fresh elections after talks on forming a new government broke up on Tuesday without agreement, prolonging a political crisis that pushes it closer to bankruptcy and exit from the euro.

An inconclusive election on May 6 left parliament split between supporters and opponents of a 130 billion euro bailout deal, which is reviled by Greeks for imposing deep wage, pension and public spending cuts.

After a third day of failed talks with political leaders, a spokesman for president Karolos Papoulias said the process of seeking a compromise had been declared a failure and a new vote must be held.

He did not immediately give the date for the new vote, but elections rules suggest it will be in mid June.

A caretaker government would be formed on Wednesday (local time), the spokesman said.

While a second election is expected to produce a similarly divided parliament, opponents of the EU/IMF rescue package are likely to consolidate their gains and attempt to form an anti-bailout coalition that reneges on the deal keeping Greece afloat.

"We are going again towards elections, in a few days, under very bad conditions," socialist Pasok party leader Evangelos Venizelos said, regretting the fact that there was no accord.

"For God's sake, let's move towards something better and not something worse. Our motherland can find its way, we will fight for it to find its way.

"The Greek people must now make the right decisions for the good of the country."

Mr Papoulias told the meeting that time was running out for Greece, adding: "I am terrified at the idea of the problems facing the country" in the coming days.

Polls show the leftist SYRIZA party, which rejects the bailout and placed second in last week's vote, is now on course to win, a result that would give it an automatic bonus of 50 seats in the 300-seat parliament.

European leaders say that they will cut off funding for Greece if it rejects the bailout agreed in March, which would mean bankruptcy and all but certain exit from the European single currency.

Figures released on Tuesday showed the Greek economy slumped a massive 6.2 per cent in the first quarter compared with a year earlier, leaving the country mired deep in recession for a fifth year.
Someone in the EU has to eventually stand up and say "nope, that's it, we're putting a stop to this because this is ridiculous". The whole nation of Greece, whether it be the Politicians or the civilians are acting like a bunch of spoilt, naggy ****ers, and if they're so unwilling to take the necessary measures to save their own nation (and the World economy along with it) then the world should leave them to suffer on their own.

They dug their own grave, now they should lie in it. The fact that a Neo-Nazi party got over 20 percent of the vote at the recent election pretty much says it all about their attitudes.

It's the fault of both Greece's government, and of it's own people.

Greece people rarely ever paid taxes because the government rarely ever checked up on whether or not their people paid their taxes. Had everyone paid their taxes, this situation wouldn't have been too big.

Well, our country also doesn't have a government anymore because of crisis issues, but at least afterwards our parties could get their acts together and decide upon ways to save money and get the Netherlands back on the road... in just 3 days. Why? Because our parties set aside their own prides and beliefs for once, because holding on to differences and standing by your morals and what you believe in is not gonna get the country saved. So essentially, we did in 2 days what is still taking Greece all of 2012 so far to do. Government or not.

Well, if Greece leaves the Euro at least they'll get their independent currency back.
Only problem is, their country will continue to fail economically and then when they're in the same state again, they won't have any rich countries to back them up.

If your fursona has a thing for pretending to be a human, do you wear a human fursuit over your fursuit, or take your fursuit off?

So glad we didn't go into the Euro. All we need to do now is put a stop to migrant workers coming here until our unemployment rate goes down.
