A Quality Thread

What constitutes as one?
Should it spark interest and conversation?
Should it induce thought and potential research?
Should it produce respectable feedback?

If it starts off rocky, shouldn't it be given a chance for someone to rerail it with a valid input?

Or should it be locked before anyone has a say?

Any thread that promotes the growth of the Mod's power over the forum is a good thread, comrade. Any thread that besmirches their reputation is one that should be put up for the locking and that comrade who posted it should be hanged by their ear above a dry well.

There have been many times when I really wanted to participate in a thread that was locked. Can the mods give some insight into what they're looking for in a thread they won't lock? Because, if you want fun threads to stay open, you've kind of failed in that regard. It seems like you want something either all star comedy hour or some sort of serious discussion. There has to be an inbetween and there has to be some sort of actual guideline rather than mods just kind of locking shit without reason given, you know? TC's good at this but I usually just see locked threads.
