My favorite thing about Fludd is that if Mario hadn't suddenly lost half of his abilities for no reason other than to make Fludd not completely and utterly useless, she'd be completely and utterly useless.

Only downside is that such fans could allow the devs to get complacent and it hurts the quality of the core titles.
Careful, Aaron! Your scarf, tight jeans, and empty glasses frames are showing!

Seriously, though, I take great joy in the fact that I was happy this E3, and you weren't.

I don't mind the "wahs". They make Koopas and Goombas dance. That alone justifies them in my opinion.

Er, the propeller suit was unlike anything we'd ever had in a Mario game before. Really, there's no equivalent in any other game. The flying squirrel suit is like the Super Cape, albeit with the ability to cling to walls (like ninja Kirby, I assume). But your first Mario game was Super Mario 64 (my condolences), so you really wouldn't know about that by no fault of your own.

Sorry that others like different titles than you. Perhaps you should teach them on how not to be mindless?

They find the NSMB games fun, so they're mindless? Hate to break it to you, but the popularity of NSMB extends far beyond people who have been playing Mario since the early 90s, ergo the majority of their sales don't come from "core" Nintendo fans. The numbers are just too big. The term "Nintendrones" doesn't apply here. The games are universally appealing. Speaking of the term "Nintendrone", kind of ironic that you assume unreleased, possibly non-existant Starfox and F-Zero games will be any good at all. I'll have to also ask on what basis is the game mediocre? Have you played it yet or are you referring to its low-budget production value?

Where are you getting this idea? Are you referring to Nintendo only? NSMB games sell spectacularly at very little cost and risk to the developer and high-cost, low-payoff 3D Mario and Zelda and Pikmin games continue to be made. If Nintendo was going to hang up their coat and call it a day with those kinds of games, they would have done it already, instead of making an attempt with the Wii U to regain the fans they lost because of the Wii.

I peg FLUDD as "male" by the way he speaks. Here's a random clip with his voice that I didn't really watch.

I seriously hope that they stop the NSMB style after this. Sure, Mario sidescrollers are fun as hell. Trust me, I know. I'm a fanboy. But, spice it up a bit, Nintendo. Don't let Mario get... boring. *shiver*

People hating on the NSMB games can't have ever played them properly with four people all jumping and fighting with each other the entire time. Literally some of the most fun I've ever had with videogames is with New Super Mario Bros Wii

New Super Mario Bros. DS had platforms that did the exact same thing that the propeller suit did. They merely turned it into a power up. The propeller suit launched you high into the air like the spring power up in Galaxy, and let you drift across gaps like Balloon Mario in Super Mario 64 DS. Luigi's backwards somersault in Super Mario 64 DS also ended in a spin out like the propeller suit which entirely broke most of the game. The Squirrel suit as you just said was a repaint of the cape with it's only new feature being the ability to cling to walls like ninja Kirby and Spike Kirby from Kirby 64 and Kirby's Canvas Curse. Just because Super Mario 64 was my first Mario game doesn't mean I have't played some of the older ones. I may not have enjoyed them, but I have played them.

More 2D Mario is great. It's almost single-handedly keeping the platforming genre alive. But I am quite sick of the NSMB style - obviously people are going to see them as rehashes when the games all look and play exactly the same.

Think about it - the NES had SMB, SMB2/USA and SMB3, and they all had their own unique style and mechanics and design. They stayed fresh and new while being fundamentally great examples of the platforming genre. And that was all one one system. But we've now got four NSMB titles across four different consoles, and aside from level design and powerups they're practically the same game. By no means do I think NSMB is bad, but it definitely needs a shaking up and a revamp before having "new" in the title becomes totally redundant.

Also, FLUDD is a machine and has no gender. The voice is gender-neutral by design.
