3DS XL
On Thursday, Nintendo announced a new model of the 3DS -- the 3DS XL. Boasting 90% larger screens and longer battery life, the new 3DS XL will launch in Japan and Europe next month, and in North America in August. It will cost $199 US and come in red, blue, silver (Europe and Japan), and white (Japan only). You can check out pictures and more details here.
What does everyone think? Personally, this is the model I've been waiting for. I absolutely loved my DSi XL and switching back to a smaller handheld with the 3DS was a little disappointing in some respects. Bigger screens are nicer to view, the increase in size also makes it more comfortable to hold, and the new stylus looks better. Of course, people are a little upset that the XL doesn't include a second circle pad and Nintendo's releasing an unnecessary update, but I for one will be picking one up.

I don't have a 3DS, and with only one game out that I'd even want, I'm not getting one anytime soon, but this is a slightly better system than the 3DS, it's a shame that this is how low Nintendo sinks though to squeeze money out of peoples pockets. The second circle pad will be added next update along with an even better battery some time late next year. It's sadly how Nintendo markets there handheld consoles.
It's such a great scheme, even Apple copied it. Or maybe it was the other way around, I'm not really sure.

Meh.
I can see why some people would want it, but I'm fine with my smaller screen. Plus, it keeps the tradition going of only getting the first version of a handheld (NDSphat, PSP1000, 3DS)

I said meh. It's good and it's bad for many reasons. I'm still considering getting either a 3DS or a 3DS XL. If I get one or the other, I'll most likely just wait for the 3DS XL to come out.

I said no opinion, but I meant meh. All that comes to mind is just... why.

I voted meh for reasons of well the batter life is longer but it just looks like a DSi XL with 3DS tech. But if nintendo makes a more appealing circle pad pro XL maybe i'll get, but i'm sticking with my current flame red 3DS for now.

I highly doubt Nintendo is going to add a second circle pad to any future 3DS iterations. It's too late for such a drastic change, they aren't that stupid.

Why don't they just make a console version of the 3DS next?

While I expected this, I am surprised they didn't add a second Circle pad. However I can see the benefits of a larger screen, and am happy that they improved the battery life. I haven't gotten a 3DS yet so i'm actually debating getting one now (Kingdom Hearts 3D is coming out July 31st and I wish to play it RIGHT NOW.) or waiting for the XL. Personally I believe I could survive just fine with the 3DS but...

The top screen is just barely under 5 inches (diagonally)...that's huge. Larger than the DSi XL's screens.

It's great that the battery lasts longer, but my concerns are:
-If the screen is so big that it'll make the games' resolution weird, because the screens are larger, but not the resolution. -Why the **** isn't the second analog stick included?
